Why is seat selection $150 more than a month in advance for economy seats?

My wife and I want to fly together, we booked tickets seperately for regular economy tickets and was quoted over $300… that is insane. It’s my first time flying Turkish. Usually all other airlines were around $50-85 a person for international seat selection. To give you a rough idea, the ticket itself cost less than $600!

Is this normal? I regret booking Turkish now but my wife wanted to fly to Istanbul with them

Grad Plus Loan Denied, Appeal Denied - Can't Finish My Program

Hello, my tuition is due soon and I have no way to pay (exhausted all my resources, no one will endorse/co-sign for me for $28K) and my unsub of $20,500 + $3k scholarship won't cover my classes fully for my Masters program. I'm halfway through it, in my final year, and have been declined over approximately $5k of credit card debt and a previous bankruptcy (which existed and was discharged before my first year loan was approved in the first place). I have submitted documentation showing my discharge, and documentation that 1/6 of the credit cards has been disputed successfully, while another 2 have been settled for less but to wipe out the full amounts, and a 4th out of 6th had made my delinquent minimum payment right before it was due to charge off thankfully. I have 2 left to pay, but that amount is less than required $2,085.

I submitted all my documentation and have been calling each day for a callback from FSA, finally today I got an email back that it was denied. It was the standard copy/paste template. It made mention of my bankruptcy again, and how my adverse credit report at the time of applying was over $2,085 in 90 day delinquencies. How do I appeal the appeal? It feels like I can't actually get on the phone with my advisor, haven't been able to speak with any person who can help besides the typical customer service rep that just advises I'll get another call back.. I haven't once spoken to the agent handling case. I'm pretty sure I can get this appeal victory, but my worry is that at this point it looks like it may be delayed for well until after my classes begin (since even if it was approved, my FinAid office would require at minimum 1 week before payment of the tuition as per usual). Any ideas how I can get someone with higher authority to look at it? I truly don't understand why it was declined after I made the payments. Part of me regrets making the payments if I can't get the Grad Plus loan.. since that was money I desperately needed anyways (took out a hardship 401k withdrawal to pay for it, but I didn't have much anyways in the account and maxxed out the hardship withdrawal.

Can't finish my Master's degree, Grad Plus loans rejected

Hello,

Due to the new rules the FinAid department of my school has been overwhelmed with plenty of gradplus loan issues. At first my application was missing it and my scholarship (which was approved from last year), but that was updated after I reached out to them and they investigated.

Subsequently they ran the credit check and I was rejected for that, even though I was told by other counselors that they only looked for negative school loan payments (private loans wouldn't matter I was reminded, like last year... my credit has been bad for many years and I never had issue with B.S fafsa or M.S fafsa for last year. Now halfway through my program, and already tens of thousands of dollars down the hole for my master's degree, I'm worried that I won't possibly be able to continue. I only recieved $20,500 in funding and am missing a big chunk. I don't have any money saved as I'm already in a hole (despite working full-time and having an additional part-time job, I live in a very HCOL area and was hoping a STEM master's degree could help boost my income.). I am completely screwed if my appeal doesn't work. I am reaching out to see about emergency funds from the school but that won't open up until September, when classes start.. and I can't start without the Grad Plus loan as each class I signed up for I'll be missing a few thousand dollars for. If I miss this semester, chances are good that I'll never be able to finish as I have over $100K of student loans that pretty soon I'll have to make payments on if I don't start classes again, of which I simply cannot afford with my current income.

Last year I never had to appeal, despite having private loan collections for years on my report (alongside bankruptcy). Has anyone lost an appeal? I haven't even been able to begin an appeal yet as I'm waiting for my school's response again.

Grad Plus Loans

Hello, I received my financial aid package last night and don’t have Grad Plus loans even though I’m halfway through my Masters program. I literally won’t be able to continue studying as I don’t have the tens of thousands of dollars remaining left to pay off my classes. That would mean I already took out over $50k of loans for a masters I can’t even finish…

Obviously I am worried and am waiting an answer from FinAid. I thought it was supposed to be grandfathered in since I started my program prior to July 1st? I confirmed this with FinAid before but only received $20,500.

Did anybody else receive a response from FinAid on what’s going on? I am also missing a scholarship that I had previously, that should’ve been applied. I am hoping it just hasn’t been reflected or someone made a mistake in the app.
