Can host increase price with increased number of guests? [USA]

ETA: I had no idea the PRICE was based on head count (I asked here, but I thought it would have been a sneak tactic if the host did that in response to a headcount change…I didn’t know it was an option in Airbnb if that makes sense). I’ve never seen that in an Airbnb reservation before. it’s also been a long time since I booked one for such a large groups. I thought the headcount in the search was just to help you find a big enough place. My questions below are more along the lines of “hey we are still not a party, and we still fit in the space, so if the price is no different what’s the big deal?” I followed someone’s advice and tested out a reservation change without submitting it and there is a price increase so I’ll be speaking with the rest of my party and probably requesting the modification. I wish this had been more clearly communicated or that I had noticed the terms that the price was based on headcount. Probably my bad. thanks to all for the help, this is higher stakes than I thought lol.

I booked a large property to attend a convention some friends and I are attending. We aren’t there to throw a party. The listing (with a superhost, but it seems like everyone is a superhost now) says it “sleeps 16 comfortably”. it has 6 bedrooms with a total of 3 kings, 3 queens, and 2 queen air mattresses.

At the time I didn’t have a solid headcount so I said 8 guests, didn’t really think it mattered.

Sook after booking, the host messaged me:

“[Guest], thank you for booking. We look forward to hosting you!

If you have not already done so, please let us know what brings you to town? Will you be having any parties or events? Also, how many people will be at the property including anyone staying or even stopping by?

Guest Count Rule: You have booked for 8 people. This will be the max allowed at the property regardless of how many are sleeping or staying overnight. For example, even if only 1 person is staying overnight, but 5 people are visiting, the reservation guest count must be 6. If you have questions about this feel free to message.”

I already replied and told him we are mostly in our late 30s and 40s and what convention we are in town for and that he didn’t need to worry about us partying (no it’s not Comic-Con, no it’s nothing involving costumes or making a mess). He said “That’s great, thank you!”

Fast forward to today: We are now up to 12 people who want to stay and I’m going to cut it off at that number. We are still well within the “sleeps 16” range. I know this host is just trying to avoid parties. My question is, given his language, do you think he’s counting heads with a ring doorbell camera or something? I am afraid if I tell him we are 12 guests now, he’ll get nervous we are partiers and will cancel the booking. But if he’s monitoring the doorbell camera I don’t want a bad review.

Should I tell the host we have 12 people now, or just leave it be?

funny enough, 2 of our guests are twin sisters who can pass for one another lol.

Cleaning up iCloud photo storage + Google Photos

I pay for 200GB of iCloud storage. I really don’t look at my other photos on my other Apple devices and I’m tired of getting the storage low notifications. 159GB of my iCloud storage is photos. They are not stored on my phone. I went to turn off photo sync on my iPhone. it asked if I wanted to delete the photos or download to my phone. (the only photos I have would be on my phone, I don’t take and using other devices)

Then I got an error saying I don’t have enough space on my phone to download the content, so I canceled the operation.

I already have Google Photos holding my photos and synced to my phone. If my Google Photos app has recently synced with my phone, then am I good to go ahead with turning off iCloud syncing and delete photos and videos from iCloud?

If I understand correctly I’m basically doubly backed up right now and it’s not necessary if I trust Google to hold my stuff, right? I’ve heard it said that iCloud is not a good tool for backing up photos, it’s more of a sharing across devices tool, but you shouldn’t rely on it for backup. Is that correct?

snapshot is now a picture of my face - how to refresh?

I took my doorbell down to charge tonight. it caught a glimpse of my face in the process and now that is the default snapshot. when I go to change my motion settings, which I do want to do, it’s just my face. I have tried rebooting through the app. didn’t change anything. How do I get the snapshot to be my porch view instead?

ETA: good news, my face has been replaced by porch view! it just needed some time to think 🤣

[MI] - Landlord withholding security deposit

Location: Michigan

A family member rented a home for 2 years. moved out May 31. It is now July 4 (day 34). Despite having been in the house to show it to future tenants before my family member moved out, and telling her that he didn’t see any major issues, the landlord emailed her after move out that they were his “worst move out ever.” he listed a bunch of non-itemized damages including having to “refinish all of the hardwood floors” and replace the garage door, and gave a single dollar total. No receipts or itemizations. My family member knew this was not communicated properly since it was only emailed rather than mailed, and not itemized, so she didn’t reply, waiting for him to mail it instead, and to send an itemized list if he was really serious.

we now know she is supposed to respond to those claims if she disagreed, but did the notification of damages count if it wasn’t properly communicated?

She did provide a forwarding address before they even out.

my family member took a video quickly of the main floor before vacating the premises. they had a dog and cat there but did not leave behind anything disgusting. There was no major damage to the floors. They had already told the LL about a small hole they accidentally knocked in the wall when tossing a box down the basement stairs. Other than that just normal wear and tear.

LL is saying they owe him $8k. Their deposit was $5k.

it is day 34 since move out now. Can LL still sue them for damages up to date 45, or can he not, since he never properly communicated itemized damages? I want my family member to go after their deposit since 30 days have elapsed. They are afraid that the LL has a handyman friend who will write him whatever receipts he wants. But the question now is did he miss his chance and can my family member safely pursue their deposit without fear of some sort of retribution?

Also FWIW he was asking them to stay because he liked them as tenants. they said they couldn’t stay because it had become out of their budget. Now all of a sudden they are the worst tenants ever. He seems like he is just hoping they won’t say anything and he can keep their deposit.

Can't set up Squarespace Payments due to lack of EIN

I am a single-owner LLC. No employees. No EIN. Not needed. But Squarespace says my records do not match IRS records. Ok. it's a new LLC so why would the IRS have record of me? None of the documents they offer as verification methods are documents I have. They all relate to EINs.

I've successfully set up paypal but that's it. Should I link a different service that isn't going to give me this issue (which shouldn't be an issue)?
