Few of my friends (expats) bought land and built houses there.

I wanted to know what is the catch. They all assure me that it's better to have your own house than paying someone else's. They seem to be doing it for short-term. How about someone that likes to invest for long-term and build for personal use?

Anyone that can shed some light on this matter? practical, financial and legal?

What kind of cost for land and build? plus, ongoing government and utility costs?

How about Umm Al Quain, Ajman?

and we would like to focus on affordable fresh seafood restaurants in these places. suggestions welcome. or hidden gems where nothing is special is their specialty (boring food)
