P-locking the SP404?

Parameter locking, from the Elektron (Digitakt, Digitone, etc.) workflow:

• is it possible to do something similar on the SP404?

• in the sequencer we can ‘motion record’ effects but is there a way to do this with more control? For example step by step, for each individual step of the sequence you can turn on or off various effects?

• maybe possible with an external midi controller? Or an external sequencer like the Oxi One, Hapax, etc.

Please discuss. Thanks.

Retouch skin for acne?

For many years I have done weddings and portraits and have always wondered, how much retouching for skin is realistically worth doing as a photographer working in wedding and events?

Recently I photographed a Client who unfortunately has ‘bad’ skin, scars from previous acne and some current acne.

I did her engagement shoot and there’s a lot of amazing pictures, however I am uncertain about my role in terms of retouching the acne and texture of the face. Should I be ‘cleaning up’ every shot? It was a longer engagement shoot with a lot of different looks, several hundred shots.

Does a wedding / engagement portrait photographer typically carry that unspoken responsibility to ’clean up’ acne? I believe so, in the context of a random pimple that pops up in someone’s face … but where do we draw the line?

…what if it’s not just one pimple that randomly appeared and would be easy to clone-stamp out, but instead a texture and skin issues that have persisted for some time and made variations of texture and tone in an area that would otherwise be clear of imperfections? In other words bad skin or skin of someone who had a bad history with acne but maybe doesn’t have it anymore so bad, but still textured.

Is the photographer responsible for retouching every shot in this particular way that creates an illusion of perfect skin?

After semi-modular

I got a pair of semi modular synths (cre8audio east beast and west pest) and a sampler (sp404)

The synths have been pretty fun to mess around with, working with patching and experimenting with their sequencers and stuff like arpeggios and transposed melodies, and basically now I think I’ve thoroughly explored the devices and I’d like to add more gear to expand their functionality …

What should I add to these semi-modular synths? I want to keep the momentum high by getting one thing at a time and building a music system that all works together… I was thinking about a few different directions:

- add a sequencer like the Oxi One - I imagine putting tracks together with a couple of synth parts and also using the Oxi sequencer to program drum beats using my sampler as a drum kit.
- add a case like the mantis case and start with one or two modules like mutable rings, and possibly also place a mixer in the case
-add a dfam or other device to add rhythm or go with an external drum machine (with its own sequencer built in) instead

Perkons module vs Perkons HD-01

The Perkons HD-01 drum machine intrigues me but I also wonder if the $2000 cost of the thing could instead be used as a budget to get into modular instead…

That same $2000 could be used instead for a Perkons module and a eurorack case plus a really great sequencer like the Oxi One… and I wonder if that could be the better path for someone looking to also start a modular and also have some ability to do drums similar to how the Perkons does them, very hands on and tactile and easy to come up with something.

Train a muscle 1,2, or 3 times weekly?

Just want to know what’s best for growth and recovery.

I currently train chest on Mondays, and try to run about 5 to 8 total sets with a variety of movements (2 sets dips, 2 sets incline press, 2 sets dumbbell press, 2 sets pec fly if I have enough energy) I like to mix in sets of other movements like legs and back and arm / shoulder isolation so it’s like a full body workout with focus on getting my sets up for chest…

Now after eight good sets, some of those with drop sets, I have sufficient sets and need time to recover the pec muscles right?

How long before I can train like this once again? I keep seeing on YouTube that I need to wait one full week. Or should I only be waiting 48 hours?

Train a muscle 1, 2, 3 times per week?

Just want to know what’s best for growth and recovery.

I currently train chest on Mondays, and try to run about 5 to 8 total sets with a variety of movements (2 sets dips, 2 sets incline press, 2 sets dumbbell press, 2 sets pec fly if I have enough energy)

Now after eight sets, I need time to recover the pec muscles right? How long before I can train like this once again? I keep seeing on YouTube that I need to wait one full week.

There’s a big issue with the idea that I can just do this training on my chest once per week- and that is I can only manage like five to eight total sets on chest in a single workout… but that won’t be enough to maximize growth? I keep hearing that I need more than ten weekly sets on a muscle to *really* grow. How am I supposed to reach say 20 weekly sets on chest if I need to compress all the chest training onto once single weekly session?

What about ‘full body’ approach though? If I spread those 8 sets out to a few different workout days… is that better? For example let’s say I just do a few chest sets to start out each time I’m in the gym Monday , Wednesday and Friday?

How often to train a muscle?

Guys I am confused about how often to train a particular muscle group like chest. 3-times per week is what I’m trying now but wonder if it should be less..

Some stats:
•natural intermediate level, middle-aged gym-goer
•normal sized penis

Ok my question;
-let’s say I like training both chest (incline press 2 sets, dips 2 sets, inclines dumbbell press 2 sets) and quads/glutes (via squats 2 sets with high reps) on Monday along with a bit of bicep/tricep and random other full body exercises in a session. When training upper front of body showy muscle groups (chest biceps shoulders and triceps) I like to do about 5-6 good working sets in a session with some drop sets and warmup sets surrounding those true working sets. I just do some minimal lifting on legs for now because my legs are somewhat thick already.

Can I just do that same session on Wednesday? Is that too soon? How about Friday?

After training session I’ll have soreness for a couple of days and if I trained it effectively the muscle will stay kind of half way sore for several days even up to perhaps a work week of time to fully recover. I want to find the ideal number of times to train those muscles in a week for me. Is it better to be training chest and legs just once per week, twice per week or three times?? …or can I be training them when they are a little bit sore?

The 2nd question: is it even worthwhile to train legs if someone already has decent muscles? My priority is upper body showy muscle groups like arms and chest and shoulders, and wanting to maximize the V taper jacked look as much as possible, I’ve trained my legs for a few years and feel like I’m maybe overdoing it on legs, because making them thicker than what they currently are is not going to equate to being more attractive, at this point it might work against me and make me look shorter and less attractive. My question regarding leg training is- once someone has fairly thick legs can they just switch to minimal leg training or almost zero leg training to get more muscle to grow up on the upper body and to not ‘waste’ effort, recovery etc on their legs?
