Oil Change Guy topped-off my coolant today. Was it the right stuff?

2018 JK. I asked what he used and he said, "Oh, universal 50/50. It's all good". Made me think about last year when I replaced my thermostat and had to go to several stores to find JUUUST the right OAT purple stuff to refill my system, following the manual.

Is the 50/50 "All Vehicles/Ready To Use" stuff OK for the JK Wrangler?

Starting GS meds tomorrow. From Stokes. Can someone suggest an alternate source for later?

Vet is convinced our 7-yr.-old calico is FIP+ because of her "way off" A:G ratio, elevated proteins, high temp and neutrophilia. Plus a few days ago she started wobbling and dragging a foot. Vet strongly advises immediate GS-441524 and advocated for Stokes pharmacy for overnight shipping. I did and it arrrives tomorrow. But it's $487 for 30ml. (15-day supply)

Clearly I need a source other than Stokes to go the rest of the 8-week treatment. We have a Chewy Vet Clinic in our town, but they say the cat has to be their patient before they'll prescribe. And I asked our Vet if she can prescribe from Chewy or SVP (or other more affordable companies). Haven't gotten an answer yet.

Also, if we start with liquid meds, I wonder if it's OK to change to tablets if that's our smartest alternative going forward.

Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Can a cat be FIP+ with no symptoms?

Last week our 7-yr.-old calico was lethargic and constipated (zero poops) for 3 days. Vet did scans and labs & said she had a high temperature, but was alarmed at her albumin:globulin ratio which she described as "way off" and a red flag for FIP. One enema and lots of poop later, the cat is 100% back in her old form: big appetite, regular BMs, energetic & playful & goofy like before. Today, we went back for follow-up labs to recheck the FIP possiblity. Will know in a couple of days.

Is FIP a common misdiagnosis? And can this cat have it with no noteable symptoms?

Why are carbide cutter heads not bigger?

I’m on the outside of a bowl the other day, using a standard round carbide tool, just roughing out the basic shape and bottom, when I wondered if it would be an easier job if my cutter head was bigger, say the size of a quarter. Also for hogging out the hollow. I’m sure there’s a reason most cutter heads are similar in size…probably since you’re only making contact with a tiny part of the cutter’s circumference no matter its size, but couldn’t you be more aggressive with a tool head that was 2X the size? Same for the square cutters.

Has anyone added the new Breeze card to their Apple Wallet?

I have the new orange physical card. Bought it online & paid $4.50 ($2.00 card fee + one trip). Trying to add the card to my iPhone Wallet and I’m stuck at this stage: Do I have to pay the card fee again? Doesn’t seem to be anyway around this. Anyone been here?

Tried something different today

Went for the live-edge shape for the first time, I’ve always gone for round/traditional bowls. The shape finally made sense after I flipped it and started hollowing. Sanding was a real chore. It’s not delicate or elegant, but ended up better than I expected.

This relic they pulled out of the ground in Midtown

This is W. Peachtree & 6th. So glad they’re finally addressing this years-long leak. Wondering if this valve gizmo is one of the ancient parts of the water system, or just looks like it.

I just got back from Charlotte. It was my first NASCAR exposure.

Hey NASCAR people: I'm on a breaking news crew that hustled to CLT last Thursday. My network wasn't even planning to cover that race (our main sports team was in Indianapolis this weekend), but the Busch news suddenly demanded our attention. None of us who went to Charlotte had ever been to a NASCAR event. We focus on politics and the banking & financial world, so were were fish out of water. We spent the whole weekend at the Speedway talking to as many fans, racing team members, track officials, vendors and RV campers as we could, showing our audience the immense impact that Kyle Busch had on the sport and the void created by his death.

I have to tell you...it was a total-immersion education for me and the rest of my crew. All of us were all blown away by the emotional outpouring by the fans, the sincere concern for Busch's family, and the genuine solidarity shown by supporters of other drivers, who put aside much of their rivalry for a weekend. Raw humanity was in full display, and I'm convinced it was genuine. I knew Busch fans would be stunned and heartbroken, but literally every single person I spoke to was still trying to process how they felt about this guy's absence going forward and his death at such a young age.

I was near the infield when Steve O'Donnell addressed the crowd and was joined by Busch's wife & son and I saw more people with tears in their eyes than not.

The race itself: Damn. I never heard or felt that kind of roar before, and never been in a crowd of 95,000 people. That's an energy that's going to be hard to beat. I also learned all about the truck race on Fridays, and the O'Reilly series race on Saturdays...none of which I had any idea about. Every time I had a dumb rookie question about what was going on, a race fan would patiently explain it to me.

I wanted to express my appreciation to the whole NASCAR community for an eye-opening experience, for allowing us into your world for a weekend, and for being just some pretty damn good folks. I might even watch the Nashville race this weekend!

More than anything, I’m glad this leak is being dealt with after nearly two years of constant water bubbling up and steel plates over the holes. But I’m wondering what these brick structures are and if they’re very old.
