Feeling punished because I was never diagnosed as a kid

...and it's not my fault!

This is a rant, apologies in advance.

I'm doing everything I can to catch up, but the consensus seems to be that if you weren't caught as a kid (which few girls were in the 90s), then you're just SoL and need to move past it.

I'm on a year-long waiting list to maybe get an ADHD diagnosis test done (no one will recommend ASD, because I don't have a known family history of it) and almost no one in my area who will do tests for an adult will take insurance. It's almost exclusively clinics, and I was quoted $3k! That's more than my car! It would actually be a good step-up from my current car!

But they told me that if I was a kid it would be different, I could get in anywhere, no problem, and be covered. Why? You can't "fix" an AuDHD kid any more than I could be "fixed" as a (likely) AuDHD adult.

How are other adult women in here being diagnosed? Are you shelling out a ton of money? If you have a kid with it do you just automatically get a free pass for a diagnosis? How? I can't afford to receive any answers or validation beyond the "Yeah, don't quote me but this fits," useless, unofficial response.

Sorry if I come off as harsh, I'm just very frustrated. It is not my intention to take it out on any one person or group of people. It's just a crummy systemic issue with the healthcare system in the U.S.

Would this sub like a dedicated waterslide decal tutorial?

In addition to being a BJD hobbyist, I also build model kits. The kind of kits that come with like 30-100 1/12 scale micro decals to be applied.

I've noticed that decals seem to be frustrating for a lot of people, and have several projects coming up that will require the application of water slide decals.

Would anyone in this sub want me to do a waterslide decal tutorial? And if so, what are your questions about using them? What problems do you commonly run into?

Immune system overreacting due to not being sick hardly ever for 6 years?

Has anyone else that has been constantly masking for the past 6 years developed multiple, sudden adult-onset allergies?

Immune systems are weird, and different for everyone. I'm just concerned that my immune system *might* be overreacting to new things as I haven't been sick more than maybe 2-3 times in the last 6 years.

To be clear I am not saying there is a connection! I'm just curious if anyone has experienced this. Please feel free to take this post down if anyone starts taking it as misinformation. Also, please feel free to correct me. On anything. I want to learn more.

Update: Thank you everyone! I will make an appointment with my allergist, OBGYN, and PCP to discuss possibilities. It's good to know that masking can't be a cause.
