me before the flight: *panic attack, crying walking onto the flight* — me walking off after a safe flight: “seeeee I knew it was gonna be fine all along”

Edit: LANDED SAFELY! Thank you everyone 💛💛💛
Do you like it? Do you get free or discounted flights?
1 - I see the advice to tell your FA that you’re a nervous flier, and that you can even talk to the pilots. Should I ask the counter outside of the gate if I can board early to talk to them? Or should I tell the FA when I’m boarding the plane that I’m a nervous flier?
2 - I just saw a comment over in the aviation thread that said that clear air turbulence can make you fall out of the sky and die. (Adding the trigger flair for that). That’s completely false, right? 🥲 I thought clear air turbulence meant it’s unexpected / when you’re not in a cloud, but it’s the same as every other kind of turbulence.
(I’m flying from NJ/NY to Switzerland. Looks a bit rainey 😭)
Edit: changed “ticketing counter” to “counter outside of the gate.” I thought those terms were interchangeable for some reason, but meant the people you show your passport/ticket to to walk onto the plane.
Traveling there soon and need to have ice for my knees. Debating whether to just buy one there (or ice and ziplock bags), or bring my own.
I know pilots have extensive training (which I’d love to learn more about). I’m assuming there are trainings / check ins around mental health too?
(Anniversary of the Indian crash and a flight in a few weeks has me anxious. I know the cause of the crash is debated.)
Thanks in advance!
Edit: people in this aviation field probably thing this question is ironic coming from someone who is clearly anxious 😂
I saw a TikTok video of someone holding down a guy down in his seat. He apparently tried to open the emergency exit door mid flight. I thought that the air pressure wouldn’t allow this though.
I’m assuming they are detaining him for doing something dangerous during the flight and they don’t want to risk it?
Would that result in an early landing?
PS - Flying again in a few weeks is clearly kicking up my flight anxiety again, and the talk about the one year anniversary of the Indian flight crash. Not knowing the other people and pilots really scares me.
First time home buyer and got quoted 6.625% interest rate 🥵 I know that’s the market right now, but would love to know if anyone has received a better offer recently?
