Prayer and Repentance

  1. How do you pray for someone and remove your own wants from the equation? How do you pray for God's will and truly want it, and set aside your own wants?

  2. How do you repent and seek forgiveness on something you're not sorry for?

If it's helpful, I'm Seventh-Day Adventist.

Looking for Guidance on Supporting a Loved One

How do you love someone with alcoholism without making their recovery your responsibility?

Someone I care about deeply knows he has a drinking problem. He admits it. He also believes he has plenty of time to deal with it later.

I see the trauma, the isolation, the depression, the blackouts, and the risks he's taking. I also see the good in him, which is what makes this so hard.

I feel like I'm constantly asking myself whether I should do more, say more, push harder, involve other people, or back off completely.

For those further along in this journey, how did you learn the difference between helping and trying to save someone?

I'm feeling pretty lost.
