Can Anyone Identify This Cartridge on my SL-1600?

The guy I bought the table from knew basically nothing about it. He said a friend gave it to him like 15 years ago and he hasn't really messed with it since, so its probably fairly old. I cant see any identifying marks on it other than the oval with a line through it. I'm brand new to the hobby myself but seems to me the needle looks pretty rough. Is this cart worth keeping and replacing the needle, or should I just get a new one altogether?

Dynaco A-25s or Advent/1s, Which Would You Choose?

Both are very well regarded it seems. Looking to pair with a Technics SL-1600 turntable and a Sansui 5000 reciever.

Looking for some vintage speakers to hook my SL-1600 to. I know Advents are highly regarded for their age and there are a couple of sets near me. My question is, these both say Advent/1 on the back but the way the grilles are attached are different. On the first pair the grill is stuck out from the cabinet and held by a ring. The second has the grilles inset into the box. Did the design just change over the years or is there some other reason like cabinet material? Wood vs vinyl, something like that? Are there any technical differences that would make one set more desirable than the other?

Im looking to get my first turntable and have found two nice vintage Technics within semi-reasonable driving distance. The 1800 is in really good shape aside from a broken plastic arm rest. Dust cover is very clean and the table isn't scuffed or beat up. Shure R47XT cartridge. The 1600 is a little more worn, dust cover is a bit cloudy and scratched, and the table has some scuffs and wear. It functions perfectly though. All auto features work as they should. The 1800 is listed at $225 and the 1600 at $280.

From looking online these are both well regarded and both fairly similar tables from the same lineup. The 1800 being fully manual and the 1600 fully automatic with memory functions and all the bells and whistles available at the time.

I know next to nothing about audio equipment, but I have always wanted to get into vinyl. There's a Technics turntable nearby I'm looking at getting. Would this be a good pair? I know enthusiasts prefer tube amps but I live in a fairly remote area and my options are somewhat limited. Also, since this has a phono input does that remove the need for a preamp, or would I still need one?
