Where to go for dinner tonight?

Hi guys, up for the night and grabbing dinner with my mom before we go see a movie. We’re both vegetarian and I’d personally love a pasta or pizza, any suggestions?

Second job/Jumping ships

Ayoo. Might be a long read but here we go.
Started at this restaurant almost 2 years ago (1 year 9 months). When I joined them, it was the end of summer so I knew it would be harder to get in. The manager needed a food runner and as one of the only “fine dining” options in my town I accepted with the condition of only helping them out for the last few weeks of summer with food running and then I’d be serving. For context, I’ve only ever worked in restaurants and have over 11 years experience. A few weeks after they did good by their word and got me into serving. 6 more months down the line, I get asked to train on bar. I accept (thinking make myself invaluable and more bar experience on resume).

Now, it’s my second full summer here. My shifts fucking suck. I’m always the last thought on the schedule, never getting set days off and often getting days off split up. It’s really starting to get to me with the anxiety of schedule coming out every week just to see how shitty my shifts are. I’m talking 1/2 AM shifts, 1/2 closing shifts, sometimes a bar shift or two (which I make significantly less money). It’s hard because I can’t really focus and excel in one area I feel like I’m just juggling whatever shift is thrown at me. Now - they’re short on hosts and I’m suddenly getting scheduled host shifts. I think I’ve made myself “too available” (not having kids/commitments therefore open availability).

I have a performance review coming up which would be the opportunity to say this but I know more of our hosts are leaving soon and I just have this gut feeling that my shifts are about to get worse - not better. I’m not sure if it’s my manager trying to push/phase me out because I still get a lot of shifts. Obviously this is the time of year that restaurants will be hiring and I’m not in a huge city so choices aren’t amazing but there’s a new restaurant opening that I think looks promising. I’ve applied and they’d like to set up an interview.

Should I work both jobs and feel out where I want to stay? Is it bad of me to suddenly change my availability with my current job by suddenly getting a second job without giving them any sort of notice?
