[mtf] Unsure how to progress with HRT based on current levels- where do I go from here?
So for full context, I have been on HRT via a private clinic since December 2025. My initial dose was 2mg (oral) daily, increasing to 4mg then up to 6mg daily for the last 1.5 months. I have been receiving Triptorelin injections every 3 months for T suppression.
My T is strongly suppressed (0.9 nmol/L) by the Tripto, but my oestradiol is at 227 pmol/L on my last test (taken ~7hrs after dose). This is quite modest for my dose and quite a ways off the target of ~400pmol/L. Feminisation has been noticeable but subtle, with breast development around Tanner stage 3 (the most distinct change).
My first issue is that I am concerned that even an increase to 8mg daily will not be enough to get my E into the desired ranges. I am considering switching to injections via DIY, but I'm unsure of the best sources for acquiring these or how to convert my current oral dosage into an ideal injected dose. Does anyone have experience in making this switch, and did you find a noticeable improvement in feminisation?
My second issue is that Tripto is just too costly for long-term use. I am considering asking the clinic to switch me to a more affordable option. What anti-androgens would be the best for continuing to suppress T? Is it better to go DIY for this or can UK clinics prescribe something effective?
