When I first found her, I instantly said “oh, she’s an Australian Shepherd mix.” But as time went on I waffled between Aussie/BC, and my partner thought maybe Aussie/English Shepherd.

I had reservations she was pure Aussie because:

She is much lighter bodied and longer/more slender than the average Aussie.

Her hair is smoother and sleeker, and she doesn’t have the really fluffy pants or feathering.

I thought her muzzle/snout/side profile weren’t quite as angular as the Aussies/BCs I’d seen, hers were broader and a more gentle slope.

***

A few users in the original post suggested she might be a working line Australian Shepherd, and they were spot on.

She has no “close family” matches on Embark, only a those with 32% or less relation. 2 of these seem to be papered purebreds (10-20% relation), and the others are either mixes or unknown status.

It makes her origin story even more interesting to me! We have some ranch communities near us, so I wonder if she originated from there in some way. Working line seems to make the most sense for her to be Aussie so far back but with few documented relatives.

***

A few fun facts about her:

She LOVES using her paws as hands. She’s very grabby with them, and even flexes her toes like little fingers when she holds your hand. It’s so weird! (And can also be annoying — she will grab your phone out your hand I kid you not)

She has the cutest smile and wiggle butt, the latter of which made me think she was definitely at least part Aussie!

She is very bouncy/springy in her movements — it’s so funny to watch her hop and bounce around

She loves picking up and carrying around shoes, but doesn’t destroy them

She loves to scratch her ass on my office chair and quickly learned how to spin me around to get my attention

She is very floppy and always sits in the most alien or awkward ways 😂😂😂

She is a chronic ear kisser!

Very stranger danger, EXTREMELY loyal to her mama (me). I don’t doubt she would seriously harm someone if they tried to hurt me!

She loves standing on you. She definitely wants to eat kitties and has a high prey drive.

She quickly figured out how to unlock her kennel and wiggle out the bottom. She won’t always do this, only when she determined the kenneling is unjust we joke

She realized butt scoots quickly get my attention. She now will fake me out with them to redirect my energy towards her when she really want some love (she’s been expressed!)

Wanting to change out this blue — unsure how to place a lifeline on the PW slipped stitch. Any tips?

Hi everyone!

I am a rather new knitter and have spent a few hours perusing YT with no luck.

The picture shows the wrong side of the work.

I am wanting to rip back about 10 rows so ~1300 stitches. I assume it’s better to place a lifeline and frog versus individually tinking.

To create this selvedge, I’ve slipped the first stitch purlwise on every row.

I have struggled to find how to place a lifeline on this purlwise slipped stitch edge I’ve placed.

And would I place the lifeline on the right side or the wrong side, to make sure the first new row I would do is the green transitioning to a new color?

Thank you for your help! Ive been knitting for years and this is kinda embarrassing to ask but im genuinely not sure how to go about it. Thank you!

Rescued her from a park earlier this year, abandoned with a badly injured foot, skinny, filthy and covered in fleas. What’s your guess?

Rescued this abandoned beautiful girl earlier this year, and she’s very obviously been abused. She has since bonded very closely with us (me particularly) and is enjoying the good life!

Some more about her:

She’s very bouncey — she can move like a spring!

Loves using her front paws like hands, will literally grab onto people with her little toe pads.

She is about 40 pounds. Estimated birthday is April/May 2025.

High prey drive — but also soft mouthed. Will stand up for herself but not on the offensive.

Very stranger danger but suspect that is due to (in part) abuse and obvious herding background. I have two other herding dogs but her cautiousness of new people is much more intense!

Very smart and athletic girl with a unique face shape, expressive eyes, and the wiggliest butt I ever did see. She also smiles!

Can open her kennel and maneuver through the bottom like it’s nothing. Loves to carry around shoes in her mouth, but doesn’t eat them.

Can’t wait for results, just got the genotyping notification from Embark today!!
