Help me interpret my embark results: 100% Dogo Argentino with 30 close family relatives

Hey yall! My dog was found on the street by a friend 3 years ago in Contra Costa County, California. I reported her to animal control and other websites for missing pets, but nobody claimed her. It was meant to be, she is my angel and I couldn’t imagine life without her. I got her DNA results a while ago, but recently I became so curious, where the hell did my girl come from, what is her background and what do these results mean? Today I did a deep dive and messaged some of her relatives and am waiting to hear back. Does anyone have any advice or understanding on how to interpret these results and the best way to move forward on understanding my dog’s background and origins? Since she is a purebred, do these percentages mean something different than they would for a mixed breed dog? Any advice is appreciated! ❤️🙏

What is she? Embark says......

The SPCA said one thing, I thought one thing and Embark said something completely different!...what do you think Poppy is?

One thing she is is amazing 😂

Guesses? (I think I know, but awaiting results)

Anita’s WisdomPanel results are taking so long to track as “Received.” They’ve been stuck on “Forwarded” since June 29! I used WisdomPanel (vs Embark) because my husband already had an account and had tested his dogs there and I wanted them all together. What breed or breeds do you think she’s got going on?

My rescue girl - results at the end!

The results were half totally predictable and half completely unexpected. Everyone she meets has a different guess on her mix!

Gus

This Gus, gus-gustivan, or The Goo Goo (formally). We got him from our local SPCA two years ago, he came from a hoarding case and is super traumatized from it. Big scaredy cat. He came to us at 65lbs and he is now a fatty who is 93lbs. Genuinely was surprised how much Pitbull he is because he is significantly bigger than our actual pitbull (photo 4 getting a foot to the face). Only 13% is also crazy as he literally looks like a chocolate lab with eyebrows. Supermutt was boxer, chow chow, rottweiler, and German Shepard.

Trixie Trix

I would love to see what anyone guesses with my dog. First photo is when I found her trying to cross a major intersection, the second and third is now and finally the results. (Yes she is a big heavy and we are working on it…please no mean comments.) TRIXIE is 6, not 13 either. Haha!

Either she prematurely aging or one of her breeds is the cause of this.

From doing her DNA, I was able to find her brother from the same litter. I spoke to the owner and she said that the puppies were being handed out free because the mother was a designer dog, and it accidentally mated with a mutt. I believe whoever took her as a puppy dumped her. She is a very happy girl. She’s not the prettiest, but she’s
happy.

Just curious to what anyone would guess!!

The envelopes don't fit in post office boxes!

I am currently in the process of doing DNA tests from Embark for my two dogs. I got a surprise yesterday when I tried to put it into a mailbox. Apparently mailboxes now only take envelopes less than 1/2 inch in width and the sample tube must be a little bigger than that. When I couldn't drop it in a mailbox in front of a supermarket I went to the post office and same issue. This was yesterday, 4th of July, so post office closed. Today is Sunday. I don't trust my mailman to pick it up from my home mailbox so I think I will have to go the post office tomorrow when they are open and hand it directly. Just annoying. I really want to see my dogs' DNA and see if thy are full blooded sisters.

Otis, 100% good boy

Otis is now 11 months old, roughly 60lbs and 27" at the shoulder. He has brindling on his head, face, shoulders, hips and  legs with black on his face and saddle. Soft grey undercoat and wiry black outercoat. Large rose ears.

The "coats and colors" website says : "Shorthaired dogs with furnishings produce a wiry coat with longer leg hair, coarse body hair and some beard and bushy eyebrows. The hairs along the dorsal line are sometimes slightly longer and coarser than on the rest of the body. The wiry texture is caused by thick and bent guard hairs that stick out away from the body."

This describes Otis' appearance.

Haven't really delved too deep into the various genes identified, will post more when I get a chance.

Surprised? By some things, yes. Surprised there's no sighthound in him, tbh. But there is scenthound, and pointer, which checks out.

Thoughts?

Still shocked and confused by her results

Got our 4 month old girl from a rescue. Say hi to Eevee (the pokemon) She’s had a tough journey, dumped at a park and then her and her siblings went through parvo. The 2 sisters made a full recovery and a rescue took them in and labeled them as doodles. Her sisters family just did an Embark test and we are so shocked with the boxer, I could kinda see the husky but boxer has us all shocked 🤣 we constantly get stopped and asked her breed we don’t even know what to say…husky boxer doodle??? Would love to see if anyone has a similar mix

Paisley's results are in! I thought breeds 1 and 3 would've been the other way around

I thought pitty before German shepherd!

Surpised by the differences between siblings

So I got my pup from a family litter and I was matched with 2 other pups from the same litter.

Im amazed at how different the composition is between the dogs. They are siblings.

Meet Posey. What are your guesses?

I got this sweet little girl from a rescue back in May. The story was that they found her and some litter mates abandoned and they were brought to a shelter. Her and 2 other siblings spent 7 months in the shelter, terrified and untrusting of humans. They were thankfully taken by my local rescue and were put into foster care, this little girl was brought to my house for a trial run shortly after, she came severely terrified and unsure of her new world. In the 2 months she’s been in my home we’ve been able to watch her finally learn how to be a dog, and slowly she’s been trying to trust that other humans aren’t terrifying. (She is my little shadow and absolutely loves my other 2 dogs and 2 cats). I’m so excited to see what her DNA results show, we were told by the rescue they thought they were Idaho Shag, my vet was wondering if possibly she has Airedale terrier in her, I jokingly say she’s part cat as her favorite perch is either on the arm rest of a couch or the back of the couch LOL either way our family is super excited and would love to hear others thoughts on what she could be. The guess is she’s 1-1.5 years old, she’s super energetic, loves jumping, spinning, and chasing my lab around, she is super smart, very responsive, and she’s very curious about everything. 🤍🤍 We sent off our Embark DNA swab on June 26th, so I’m hoping by the end of July we’ll know 🤞🏻

Dove’s DNA Results

We were told by the rescue that he was a “pit chihuahua mix” but it turns out he’s mini schnauzer 🥹. Very curious to see how big he will get - he is 4.5 months and 18lbs now, a tiny very sweet guy.

** clarification that I wouldn’t dream was needed here but I am not calling my dog a schnauzer, just thought it was an interesting part of my PIT MIX’s DNA**

My puppy’s results… 97% poodle.

I also noticied that wisdom panel says he’s going to be a heavy shedder. Poodle owners. Does this even seem accurate?

Impatiently waiting

Our puppy has a very unique look, and I know what we were told from the original owner (he is a re-home we got at 4.5 months old, we did not buy him from a breeder) but we are all speculating as to what he could be because it doesn't completely make sense what they told us. I'm guessing he has more than 2 breeds in him. Would love to see what y'all guess!

We got an embark a couple weeks ago, still in the extraction phase. PS- How long did it take y'all to get results from the time they received the sample?

His name is Rumble, he is currently 5 months old, and 54 lbs at last weigh in. But as a size reference, our other dog is a 60 lb Doberman, she is taller but also leaner. Once we get results I will update and also reveal what the previous owners told us he is, whether it turns out to be true or not.

We were told "Anatoilian Shepherd Mix". Hah

Humane society pup, not sure how they guessed Anatoilian? We didn't get any Supermutt but the results were interesting! She is the sweetest girl pup, smart and fun.
