First time knitting a sweater! Has been a fun and great learning experience so far

First time knitting a sweater! Has been a fun and great learning experience so far

I started crocheting in December 2024 and challenged myself to pick up knitting this year. I'm using a simple/cheap acrylic for this practice sweater. I added a lifeline below the ribbing in case I goofed the yoke up.

Getting married in September. Want to make fiance a pocket square. Any pattern recommendations?

I'm trying to find some sort of pocket square pattern for his suit but I'm not having any luck even when I look on ravelry. Anyone know of any?

I'm halfway through my huge butterfly shawl and doing a quick blocking of the edges

I complained about all the yarn tangles with intarsia earlier. I now finished the first half of the shawl and it looks great. I even tortured myself with doing intarsia on the small white dots to keep the back neat. The pattern calls for stranded knitting on the small dots. It's all going to be worth it in the end.

I'm not sure how I'm going to block it when it's done though, it's huge already. I need more blocking mats 😅

I have 1½ months to do the other half if I'm going to give it to my grandma when I see her. Otherwise I have to mail it to her later. I have vacation time coming up so it's not impossible to get it done on time, but I won't stress to much if I won't make the deadline

First time knitting! Here’s my practice swatch and I’d love feedback.

This is the first time I have ever knitted so this is just learning stitches and practice not making anything. I am learning Garter stitch and stocking stitch. My mother in law is teaching me and she says I am doing amazing as I only started like a few days ago. But I want an unbiased opinion, what do you think?

This is my very first sock. It is super small but only meant for practice

Ask the title said I decided to make a sock with a small amount of yarn and a smaller size for practice. Turned out pretty decent I think though I had troubles with the hill and connecting it back to the main body. Overall not a bad first try

I have almost finished my first top design. 🏡☺️ I hope you all like it?🙈

I just need to finish the straps, and then it will be complete. 💕🏡

i’m very new to knitting and doing my second project ever! i’m working on Nimble Needles’ beginners beanie pattern and i can’t figure out how to make this 1x1 rib look neat! i’m not sure if maybe the tension will even out as i add more rows? or am i kinda cooked and need to start over for the 7th time? i’m doing my purls through the back loop and tightening after every purl. first pic is the right side second pic is the wrong side

I’ve been working on a new method for shaping decreases and edges in knitting.

What do you think of this pattern? ⛓️‍💥⛓️

What are we washing our summer knits with? Detergent wise

I now have some beautiful summer knits and I'm worried about keeping them in good shape with washing.

What detergent do y'all use? And for what kinds of fibers? And how? I'm most worried about KFO pure silk.

Help me live my coastal auntie dreams. Thank you!

Specks in tweed coming off for knitted sweater - how do I lock in the specks

I am knitting a sweater with DK City Tweed yarn from knit picks and the specks within the yarn are not intertwined very well so they are just coming off. Does anyone recommend a way to go through and kind of restitch these speckles back in?

Please reference the two photos to see how the speckles look on the knitted body. Half or more of the speckles are barely hanging on

Finished my top just in time to wear it in ✨ Paris ✨

I just had to share this insane photo I took in Paris 😭 Finished knitting this top just in time for my trip.

Knit with Bamboo Pop - Universal Yarn on US 6 circular needles. The pattern is the Soléne top by Auguste Knit on ravelry. There is also a matching skirt pattern!!

Which would be easier to knit as a COMPLETE BEGINNER? A button down cardigan or a sweater?

I have never knitted anything before so I want to make something that I would actually wear but is also easy enough to make without it being too boring. My goal is to be able to make a button down cardigan but I'm afraid that it will be too complicated since I have to attach buttons and everything. Should I make a sweater first then go on to make the button down cardigan after?

What are the things I'll need to knit a scarf for the first time?

my Gf's birthday is coming up in 2months and for my first present to her i plan on giving her something which will stay for a really long time, the only problem is that i never knitted anything and have not a single clue about what i might need, i plan on watching YT for tutorial but i'm so confused about the String quality and the time it might take. if you any of you can guide me through this ill really appreciate it, (btw is it okay to give a hand knitted scarf as a birthday present?)

In case you were having trouble visualizing my concept

Here are some more pics! This is what I mean by “filling in the back with short rows.” The pooling across the back is my favorite part. No, I’m not using a pattern. I’m glad Salem didn’t know I was going to take pictures, otherwise he’d be on my left shoulder again!

ETA: My favorite part is the way it pooled across the back and I’ll end up hiding that if I add a hood. 😬

Are the different yarn colours too noticeable to continue ?

Hi all! I’m knitting the back panel of this cardigan and wanted to see if anyone could notice the ‘yarns’ are from two different lots/batches? The middle section looks so me like it’s a bit more pink? toned and the rest is a bit more yellow toned. Is this noticeable to anyone else or do you think I could get away with it?

Update: thanks for all your thoughts! I’m probably going to leave it as is for now… staring at it is making me feel like my eyes are seeing things. Since majority of the comments say it’s not too too noticeable I think I might be able to get away with it and considering it’s the back panel hopefully my hair cover it partially. Worst case I’ll unravel after I’ve finished the rest of the panels if it’s too different from the front and the sleeves 😵‍💫

Any suggestions for a thick stitch or pattern for dishcloths?

So I used to crochet a waffle pattern dishcloth and my mom likes that best cuz it’s thick or had thick parts I guess but I have wrist issues and can’t crochet as much any more. Knitting seems to be fine and I wondered if anyone had a stitch or patterns they could suggest for a thick dishcloth without having to create, like two squares to join or using double strands.

Missed a strand and don’t know if it’s worth it to ladder down or if there is anyway to hide it.

Basically what the title says. I’m knitting an ugly sweater and this is the body of it. Just need to know if I should ignore this or attempt a fix.

I finished my hat finally. Lots and lots of frogging

Here's a picture of my finished hat. It was an experience. I had to frog and do at least half of what I had already done at that point over again. And I had to frog at least another four or five times most of which was because of the decreases. Since I didn't know how to ladder the decreases I pretty much had to frog them. I don't mind frogging I mind that I can never get my needle back in without doing them one by one and nearly having the ladder every single stitch back onto my needle.

Either way I'm happy it's my cleanest piece and the one I feel the most comfortable wearing out in public. The decreases are definitely not the cleanest but part of that is just not knowing how to read the pattern correctly. I learned knit the knit and purl the purls does not mean start the ribbing pattern over again as you did for the first thousand rows.

Not sure what the next project is maybe socks I'm not ready to do something big like a sweater or a shirt yet.

I’m just trying to get a pic of the progress I’m making on my t-shirt!

But Salem has other plans

ETA: I’m not using a pattern. I made a hoodie a couple of years ago that I rarely wore because it was so oversized and shapeless that I frogged it to make it into something I knew I’d wear. I’ve been constructing it in a way that I know will affect the pooling effects. I didn’t know how it would pool but I knew it would. It made a really awesome effect across the back panel for the sleeves. I mean, for real, the way it pooled is so cool! I can’t wait to finish this though so I can wash it and get rid of all the distracting crinkles! I can’t wait to find out what mistakes I’ve made and just couldn’t see them. LOL

ETA2: The yarn is something I got at Joann’s (may she rest in peace since she was so brutalized while she was alive) and is 100% cotton. I have another colorway in the same yarn and I really like working with it.

just a beginner struggling with getting the needle into the stitches

i try to keep the loops loose but after a few turns it becomes tight i struggle to get the needle through idk what im doing wrong. at first i thought its because i start with tight loops but i tried loose still struggling. what can i do to make it easier? is it my technique? or the supplies? i bought whatever supplies were available the needle is 3.5mm im not sure about yarn but its thinner than the needle

sorry if i used a wrong term im just getting into it
