My forever dilemma: projects that are wearable vs projects that are fun to knit

I'd say I'm an early intermediate knitter, I've been knitting for a few years though I haven't finished a huge number of projects (I don't think I'll ever have one of those massive "what I knit in a years," since knitting competes for time with other incompatible hobbies in my life). But I've gotten to a point where each pattern brings fewer new techniques, and I'm starting to have enough of a cross section to find out what I like and don't like in a pattern.

One thing I've discovered is that I generally don't enjoy knitting stockinette in the round. I've seen people refer to that part of a sweater as "stockinette heaven," but for me it's just not interesting enough to be motivating. When I've knit something with a colourwork yoke it ends up in a WIP graveyard for months once I get to the part that's just stockinette. Even for a TV knit I generally prefer something slightly more involved, like a repeating stitch pattern.

I've also noticed that a lot of popular patterns and patterns for garments I'd like to own are just plain stockinette - which I guess makes sense, the simplicity makes a garment a bit more wearable and versatile, and scandi minimalism is in (I say as a Scandinavian knitter who's never quite been a minimalist).

I guess it's a part of my evolution as a knitter to get to a point where my assessment of a pattern is not just "do I want that FO and do I think I can manage it?" but also "will it be fun to knit?" - and I may have to resign myself that I'm unlikely to get to own many of those gorgeous plain stockinette basics because I simply don't have it in me to knit them.

Do you have any similar dilemmas between which finished objects you'd like to own and which techniques you enjoy or don't enjoy? Or any tips for learning to embrace the stockinette?

How to push past a mid-game (?) rut

I picked this game up again for the second time recently, on my first playthrough I rolled credits and didn't get much beyond that though I could tell there was more left. Now I'd like to try to get further, since I've seen a lot of people say there's a lot to do after room 46. However, the reason I bounced off the first time is the same reason I'm starting to struggle now, after rolling credits again on my second playthrough.

I feel like the early game arc is really satisfying because early on it's enough to keep you occupied just trying to explore and see new rooms, and you naturally stumble across puzzles and solutions as you're doing that. In the "late early" game before credits, even once you've started to learn the mansion and are encountering fewer new rooms, it always feels like there are multiple different goals you can be chasing. So you can start drafting with an open-ended list of goals and ideas, pull a certain room and go "ok cool it's time to try out this thing" and let the run evolve, and you never have to get stuck beating your head against the wall of one specific puzzle.

I'm now in the post-credits in what I think is the mid-game (based on people saying room 46 is about the 20-30% mark). >!I have 3 keys and have solved 2 of the sigil puzzles.!< And I'm finding it difficult to be at a point where my list of leads is narrowing down so it feels less fruitful to open-endedly start a run and see where it leads, and I can't just trust that new clues will materialise as I'm chasing other things. Most of the puzzles I'm aware of that I haven't solved yet, I feel like I'm missing some key piece of information that I don't know where to look for. I have a lot of permanent upgrades and I'm at a point where my ability to ensure I find the rooms and tools I need on a given run (or set myself up to do so) is relatively good, so I can chase specific goals when I have them, I just feel like I'm running out of goals that I know how to chase >!(Aside from trying to find vault keys which are the bane of my existence, I've found two and I have no clue how many I need but I know I'd seen at least 3 different ones around before I could consistently pull the vault)!<

Any (non-spoiler) tips for getting past this stage of the game and embracing the shift from pure exploration and discovery through "happy accidents" to something more goal-oriented? I've learned my lesson about trying to google things because I feel like it's impossible not to accidentally see spoilers for stuff you weren't looking for when you try to look up an answer to a specific puzzle.

Which gauge to knit my top at?

The swatch on the left is on gauge for the pattern, the one on the right is ~1-2 cm over (but I was in between two sizes, so I feel like that should be fine). I started knitting the top at the recommended gauge but felt like the fabric was becoming very dense and stiff, so decided to swatch it at .5 needle size up. I prefer the feel of the fabric created by the looser gauge, but looking at them again I'm wondering if the tighter gauge looks neater? Though part of that could be that as you can see I didn't put the world's most effort into making the swatches block out evenly, and the one on the right came out more wobbly.

I'm knitting this Honeymoon Top with two strands of Knitting for Olive pure silk held together. I restarted it at the looser gauge yesterday, but now I'm second guessing myself again.

Looking for a specific game where you decipher a family tree and a language - Roottrees meets Chants of Sennaar?

Hi!

So a few days ago I saw a random Reddit post recommending a game that they said was like a blend of Roottrees and Chants of Sennaar, where you decipher a language while also trying to put together a family tree. It was a free in browser game and didn't work on mobile, so I thought I'd check it out when I was sitting on my computer. However - I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called, and I've looked at a few similar threads without seeing that specific game being mentioned. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
