So ive done a lot of work including a carb rebuild and now I have the thing running. The only issue is when I hit about 3000 rpm in any gear it starts to backfire and lose power. I know its a tuning thing, im just needing any advice that all of you toyota geniuses can provide. I was also considering advancing the timing from 8 to 16 to help compensate, would this help or hurt? Thanks in advance

I bought this 1976 toyota chinook off of my buddy back in September 2024. About 2 weeks later our area got obliterated by Hurricane helene, the barn that this thing sat in for years got completely washed away. She barely avoided having the same fate! 58,000 miles on her only and after doing all the electrical, timing, and a full carb rebuild, she is running like she did in my dreams! Sorry for the long winded word dump, but now i can finally start building out the camper and go camping!
