I feel like this is a specific issue with a specific fix

My little ole camper here sounds like it’s getting a cold.

When I am driving, I don’t go above 55 60 mph. So, majority of the time I’m on the highway, traveling anywhere new, that’s the speed I coast at. A thousand miles or so ago, a belt started to squeal damn near non stop at a specific pitch and remains steady when traveling at this speed. Once I drop below 50mph, the belt quiets down.

I’ve been doing repairs under the hood for the last few years and I need help diagnosing what I feel is a specific issue so that I can fix it myself!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! We’ll be driving from PA to CO in less than a few weeks and I’d like to get this issue sorted. TIA :)

Tail light won’t work and turn signals flash fast

I have an issue with the tail lights not coming on, flashers don’t flash or are in over speed, and gauge lights don’t come on. I’m suspecting it’s the rheostat because I had an issue like this before. I’ve already checked all the fuses, and I don’t think it’s the light relay, I can hear it click on when I turn the headlight switch on. I’ve looked up the part number 84119-03010 and it’s a lot for a little rheostat. Is there a way to bypass the rheostat or an aftermarket replacement I could use?

'93 2wd - suspension rebuild - upper control arm bushing P/Ns?

My '93 2wd P/U (RN80L-TRMREAB) needs a suspension rebuild and I'm collecting part numbers to make sure that I get the right bits and pieces. After reading all of the discussion about how Toyota OEM pieces are better than anything else, I'd like to go that route, but it looks like some parts are discontinued.

  1. I'm getting conflicting information about the front and rear upper control arm bushings. Are these the right part numbers? Front: 48632-35020; Rear: 48635-35010. ToyotaPartsDeal.com says that the 35010 number will not work with my truck.
  2. It looks like OEM outer tie rod ends are available (45046-39385) but the OEM inner tie rod ends are discontinued (45406-39155). Have I got the right numbers? I've seen some threads saying that other people have had to use Sankei 555 or MOOG parts for replacing these on their trucks. It looks like there's some preference for the Sankei 555 parts over MOOG, but also looks like both have shorter use-lives than OEM.

More questions coming ...

Been getting ‘er cleaned up before I drop it off for an engine rebuild this week

At 376k the 22r is tired and has low compression in a couple cylinders. The most budget friendly option with fastest turnaround is getting the 22r rebuilt.

I bought this truck for cheap from the original family that bought it in 83 and I’ve been bringing it back to life little by little.

Cheers.

Any bumper knowledge?

I’m having a hell of a time finding/mounting an OEM style bumper on my 1984/1985 Toyota Pickup 4WD.

Bought a 4WD kit online but they clearly shipped 2WD 86-87 Mounts.

Now I’m stuck trying to find any place to find 4WD mount but it seems not a single company makes them anymore?

Nor do they make the side brackets for the end caps and air deflector.

Anyone have any ideas on where to look or how to find? I’m at a loss. It seems my only option is to fabricate some mounts from scratch.

Would love to talk with anyone who’s been through this before. The tailgate replacement situation is even worse 🤣

Old Blue is 40 this year

My 86. Independent front suspension, fuel-injected, power windows and locks, air conditioning, cruise control, power antenna, rear window defrost, and factory sunroof. I bought her in 2019 from a prison guard in Susanville, CA, for $3500. She might be the best thing I've ever bought

Battery not charging

Just got a new alternator and battery. The parking brake and battery light is on on my dashboard. Battery sits at about 12.5v. I’ve cleaned all the connections made sure the belt is on right and still nothing. It’s does show I’m getting the 12.5 volts to the the alternator. Could it just be a bad remanufactured alternator? It’s a 94 pickup 22re

Any suggestions for keeping rain out of my 82?

Janky fixes are obviously on the table. I’m sure I’m going to have to get a new cab for it but in the meantime I’d like to avoid puddles in the footwells.

I do have a cover for it that I’ve been using but I’m tired of looking at it covered up.

Thank you!

Thoughts on this bumper?

Warrior Products. Square tube/plate steel. First time installing a bumper. Took me about an hour solo with a couple jack stands. Please excuse any weird AI artifacting from digitally removing the license plate.
