75 Emissions Sticker

I need a replacement emissions sticker for my truck.... I'm going through salvage title for my 1975 Toyota Pickup/Hilux, but I've changed hoods, and the new one might be from a 78 or 79? CA Dmv failed me for inspection because it doesn't have the correct emissions sticker. I've told 2 separate dealerships my original hood has it, I can provide proof, but I'd like to order a replacement for the new hood.

1 dealer said they will write a letter for me on their letterhead if I pay $200 and bring it in for a smog inspection. (fuck that lol) The other dealer said there is no part number and wouldn't write me the letter, they suggested I call corporate.

The whole reason I got my truck is so I don't have to deal with smog.

Anyone else have to deal with this? Or have advice? I'm not sure if I can get my original hood to latch securely otherwise I'd be all for that. #chickenoregg

Any reason not to put a real Weber in an 84 22r?

My friend who is a mechanic wants to put a Weber in. I’m new to each thing as it pops up.

As it stands, cold start takes a few tries, and it takes three or four minutes driving before it feels like fuel mixture is good.

I’m not trying to get something I don’t need, but it seems like there’s enough reasons to get a Weber carburetor that make it worth doing. Am I right?

Found the exhaust leak

Exhaust manifold gasket has been long gone. haven't replaced yet. just pulled it apart to diagnose. I believe it's been causing the excessive engine noise.

1986 Toyota pickup stalling issue. Help Please

I have a 86 pickup with the 22r and an automatic transmission. The main issue I have is that if I am at a stop light or stop sign about 5 minutes after the car has been turned on it will completely stall and the car will turn off. I think it happens when the engine is done warming up because I can hear the drop in rpm and then it will stop about 2 seconds after. If I give it a little gas I can save it but I'm not always quick enough. It also does run a little rough at the moment. Anybody have solutions?

Getting a rubbing “wub wub wub” noise in the front end of my 2016 Tacoma, especially around 30-40 MPH. Doesn’t go away in 4WD.

So I have a 2016 Tacoma, 2.7 4x4 with 190k miles on it. Already replaced the wheel bearing in the front right thinking that was the problem as it seemed to be coming from that side, but no luck. I’ve read about the common needle bearing issue these trucks have, but everyone says if it’s that then the issue should go away in 4WD, but it doesn’t. Doesn’t appear to be any issue with the brakes either. I can’t find anything rubbing that would cause this noise so I’d really appreciate any help!

Cant get 22r intake manifold off

1985 pickup 22r

I've tried wiggling it and kind of like prying it off with a screwdriver and all sorts of stuff and it's just really on there. Did I miss something?

How to tell late 84 vs early 84 22r

I’m looking at picking up an 84 2wd pickup this weekend. I’ve read that Toyota switched the 22r in July of that year. How can I tell what engine is in this truck? All I have is this not so great photo of the vin. Any info helps! Mahalo!

16 year old buying Used Truck for under 5k Raleigh

hello everyone in the Reddit car community, I’m from Raleigh and I just got my license a couple months ago and I‘m saving up for a new car. In my mind it may not be the smartest financial move but my parents are paying for car insurance so now I’m saving up for a car. I’ve got about a grand saved up and I‘m trying to find a second job but I really want a truck more than any other car. I feel like a truck is going to be safer but also be the most fun for me. I know I won’t be able to afford anything relatively new but I’m working to a goal of around 5-7 grand in hopes to get between a 2005-2010 truck of some sort. I would really like a Tacoma or a Tundra as they are the most reliable but wouldn’t be opposed to a different option. I’m just looking for some advice, just financial or in general, about my future car expedition.

Anyone ever do an electric AC compressor and custom system?

I saw a YouTube video recently where this guy was installing an electric compressor from Amazon on his honda basically just retrofitting a new ac system to it, i thought that was kinda interesting. I also know that you can buy those ac kits for classic cars. My 85 has AC but it doesn't work, and like I could fix it, or i could find another way. Just curious if anyone has found alternative AC options. Also, for anyone who doesn't have AC and lives in a place that can get pretty hot (like up to 100°f), whats that experience like. I really just don't want to have AC because it's another system I have to spend money on and take care of, but i dont live somewhere thats always nice weather. I do have vent windows and a back window on my truck, but idk, it gets pretty hot out here sometimes.

Leak

What kind of leak does this look like. I had the timing chain done recently and the valve cover gasket is new as well. Is it just from the half moons. Sent mechanic the video he said might be head gasket leak? Looks like from the half moons possible to me but any ideas?

Y'all prefer the leather or cloth bench seats?

I feel like I'm the summer I would want cloth but I've never had leather seats so I don't know if there's something people do to mitigate that? Ive thought of just using a blanket in the summer to sit on

Rear main seal or Oil pan gasket? 22RE

Rear main seal or oil pan? 22RE post motor swap.

Did a motor swap and the engine runs sweet, however I also replaced the rear main seal and did only RTV on the oil pan. This leak is after about 4 miles of driving however I let it idle for like 5 mins prior and no leak.

It’s not the rear half moon for certain, just redid that and checked it with a mirror. Looks clean at the top of the block.

I can’t tell the difference between a rear main or oil pan and this is the last item that needs fixing mechanically so any help would greatly be appreciated!

Really just want to avoid doing one just to find out it’s the other…
