So is the 3.0 V6 the least desired?

Been saving a chunk of money every week for a while and I’m getting close to having enough cash to pay way too much for an 80s or early 90s pickup because I want one!
Ideally I want mid 80s to 94 with 22R, 5 speed, 4x4 and wing windows! That last one is a deal breaker.
There’s a ‘91 in my area but it has the 3.0 and I think that’s not the one I want? Head gasket?

Collected ‘em all!

Popped in for toilet paper and trash bags and figured I’d peruse the liquor store. Grabbed 3 bottles of the single barrel for $30 each.

So is PPPD different for everyone?

As I read through this sub I see lots of different “triggers” and symptoms. Mine happens to be driving but yet others actually feel better behind the wheel. Some feel like they’re walking in clouds but others are ok in the daily grind. Is it possible there’s varying severity and symptoms? I would guess that to be true but seems like whatever this truly is seems to be a fairly new diagnosis (2017?) so maybe we’re still in the discovery phase. Just had that random thought and wanted to throw it out there.

Appointment Coming Up

So I've been dealing with whatever I have for 8 years or so. I'll spare you the long story but my "whatever I have" hit after a long weekend of too many beers, got on the highway (hungover I'm sure) in a construction zone with orange cones everywhere and I guess I had a panic attack (maybe?). That feeling has never gone away - not severe all the time but "there". Still can't drive on the highway without it ramping up to where I feel like I'll black out. Been to lots of Drs, SSRIs, SNRIs, binocular vision testing and prism glasses, MRI (clear) and finally got an appt with the Dr. (Neurotologist) that took over for the very 1st Dr. I ever saw. I've been talking with ChatGPT for a few months whenever I think of something new like "it ramps up in big box stores" or "I feel better laying in bed reading at night" to just catalogue as much as I can. I had it print me out a summary to give to the Dr. because I always leave and say "Dammit, I forgot to tell them this". They said they're going to do the hearing test again like the first time years ago but I'm just seeing if anyone has any pointers to bring up. I guess I'm hoping for Vestibular Therapy? Currently doing Vision Therapy.

Thanks Aldi for taking my laziness to the next level!

Driving - I don't read much about driving issues. That's my main gripe.

8 or 9 years ago on the way back from a beach weekend I got on the highway and I think I had a panic attack. Thought I was going to die. That feeling has never gone away. The feeling is ALWAYS there. I can deal with it for daily day to day stuff including driving around town but highways are a no go. It's worse in big box stores but what's the worst that can happen there? Is anyone else not able to do highway driving?

05 DC 4WD V8 oil pressure problem?

Just noticed today that my oil pressure gauge is it the first hash mark as normal when idling but while driving 30-40 mph it was dropping well below that mark almost to zero. I checked the oil and am about a half quart low but due an oil change soon anyway. Bad sending unit? Something more sinister? What to check?

I skipped leg day 😭

I do a PPL,PPL,R weekly. Recently started doing my workouts in the morning before work (shed gym) and usually walk or walk/jog 2 or 3 miles after work when I get home. Had to take my daughter to get her wisdom teeth pulled this morning so didn’t have time for the shed before we left. It’s the first time my baby girl had to be put under anesthesia and I was a wreck! Everything went well and she’s recovering just fine this afternoon. I did just do a walk/jog 5k but I’m mentally spent and am not going to do leg day. Can I be forgiven?

Explain to me "dizziness"

So I've been dealing with something (maybe PPPD?) for years and trying to nail down the feeling I have. It's definitely not spinning - it's more like you were tying your shoes and stood up too fast (but not exactly). Kind of a light headed feeling. Not necessarily like a rocking boat but maybe a little if I stare at one spot and think about a boat. It ramps way up driving on the highway which is my main complaint. It's a little more present in the big box stores and better laying in bed reading a book. What exactly is dizziness? Is it different for everyone?

Hoping for some reassurance. Rough day.

Hi all - Had a particularly off day and feeling more down than usual. Hoping dumping my story out there will resonate with someone and you can at least try to affirm I've got some hope. My issue started about 8 or 9 years ago (pre Covid so I can't even blame that). Went to the beach with some friends for a long weekend and when it was time to leave, jumped up on the highway and it hit me like a ton of bricks. Thought I was going to black out and was fighting for my life to just process all the stimuli that was in front of me doing 70 MPH. Was it a panic attack? Maybe but that was the start. LONG story short the "feeling" has never gone away. I always feel like I'm having to refocus on whatever I'm looking at even though it's not out of focus. It ramps up in the big box stores and has made driving on the highway pretty much undoable. I can get around town in the 40mph range well enough (probably because I know there's a million places I can turn off or traffic, red light, etc). In daily life I find it difficult to stay focused and when I have extended conversations or meetings I start to get really overwhelmed as well (is this brain fog?). It's been making life miserable to say the least and just doesn't ever get any better (or worse typically which I guess is a good thing).

As far as my road of discovery:

Have largely quit alcohol, work out 6 days a week and run 4 miles on the 7th day, eat much healthier, get 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

Vestibular Dr - ran all the tests and said the blood vessels that supply my brain were stiff so I was prescribed a BP medication for 9 months. No help. This was in 2018 or so and from what I just read today PPPD wasn't added to the WHO until 2017 so I guess this thing is "new" and that Dr. didn't know about it?

Binocular Vision Dysfunction #1 - Got prism glasses (.5 BI in one eye, .5 BD in both eyes). Wore them for months with no improvement (possibly felt worse)

Psychiatrist - was prescribed at least 3 SSRI or SNRI meds. Took each of them for months and they did nothing.

Neurologist - ran every test she could think of and MRI - all clear. Also no mention of PPPD.

Binocular Vision Dysfunction #2 - Currently wearing prisms again (just .5 BI in one eye) and just started vision therapy about a month ago. Since all I do for the past 8 years is dwell on what the heck is wrong with me I kept coming back to vision. The symptoms ramp up on the highway and in the big box stores and it just makes sense to me that my eyes and brain are fighting with all the visual stimuli. Box stores I can deal with because what's the worst that can happen - I bump my cart into something? Highway driving is a different story.

Recently came across PPPD and have been doing tons of research and I check all of the "5" symptoms to have a diagnosis. This is assuming my "panic attack" when this all started is truly what it was. I've only ever felt it that sever a couple more times so maybe those were also full blown panic attacks? Or now that I know I have an issue I can most of the time keep it under the full blown "this is it" and just maintain it a completely miserable level vs. full blown melt down?

Brought this up to my Vision Therapy Dr. and she said she agrees 100% that my symptoms match but she can't technically diagnose me. She is writing me a referral to a local Vestibular rehab Dr. which I'm hoping comes soon.

The "feeling" isn't spinning, it's kind of like I stood up too fast and am light headed (but not exactly). Not really unsteady like a boat but kind of? It's VERY hard to describe and after 8 years I still can't explain it well. It's nothing is clear anymore and I can never just totally relax. Like my brain is always fighting to maintain.

Am I on the right track? Hope to get back to some sense of normalcy?

Thanks

Small is OK

I’ve got two 22” kettles that I love but always keep a propane grill around for those quick cook nights. Had an older spirit 2 burner someone put to the curb for a few years and it finally fell apart. Scored this brand new model from Lowe’s outlet for $199 a few months back. Thought about a bigger one but for family of 3 (or honestly 4) the 2 burner has plenty of real estate.

Beater Bar Appreciation

Hot humid Florida shed gym. Picked this Rogue Ohio Bar black oxide (now somewhat surface rusty) finish up a couple years ago for $100. I sometimes look at new fancy bars but why? This thing takes everything I throw it 6 days a week. Love my beater bar.
