Carroll Gardens Social Club

Hi neighbors! Earlier this year I posted here about building more community in the neighborhood, and it really struck a chord. From that thread, a few of us started the Carroll Gardens Social Club, which has grown to over 100 members in our WhatsApp group. We host events on a monthly basis and our next event is this Friday after work!

A little context on the group: most members are around 28 to 45, with a good mix of singles and couples. People come from all over the surrounding neighborhoods too, not just Carroll Gardens. It’s a genuinely great group of people, and I’m happy to vouch for it.

If you’re interested, comment below and I’ll dm you with the WhatsApp link.

Transitioning from non profit to tech

Hi! I’m a 33-year-old Fundraising Manager currently working in the nonprofit sector and exploring a transition into tech or other corporate-facing roles. Over the past 7+ years, I've built experience in relationship management, donor cultivation, Salesforce, events, project management, stakeholder engagement, and working closely with senior leadership and boards.
I'm curious if anyone here has made a similar jump from nonprofit fundraising/development into tech. If so:

• What role did you transition into?
• Which of your nonprofit skills transferred most easily?
• What was the biggest challenge during the transition?
• Any advice on positioning your experience for hiring managers?

I'm particularly interested in Customer Success, Account Management, Partnerships, and other relationship-focused roles, but I'd love to hear about any path that worked.

And if anyone has made a similar transition and would be open to a brief virtual coffee chat, I'd be incredibly grateful. I'm hoping to learn from people who've successfully navigated this path.
