There was so much ground shift below slab at this property, plumbing was getting warped and broken, creating cesspools. The engineered fix was to use this product that is plastic panels and fiberglass rods.
Lots of dirt was hauled off. 40” below slab, 6” of gravel, then the boxes, backfill, snd and a 4” slab.
The squares on the rods get imbedded in the slab and the rods will move up and down with the floating slab. There’s little wafers below the lid between two rods; that wafer is thin and made to bend so that the rod can be held up during install but will bend through the bars as the slab moves.
Caissons were bobbing up and down over years and breaking the pipes and slab.
I’ve had this rug coming close to 15 years and I know nothing about it other than I got it for free in an estate sale in Dallas. The estate was in a very nice part of town.
I’m grateful for anyone who can share an opinion.
