Beat the game for the first time

Loved it! The shiny charm you get in the village helped a lot, ended up shiny hunting for four of my favorite Pokemon after acquiring it lol, as I initially didn't wanna spend hours/days per shiny. Might go for the legendaries too, *might*.

Overall, it was awesome. Playing with all the gen 1-3 Pokemon in my favorite Pokemon game with all the usual romhack QOL, and along with the polish and aesthetic of Emerald Seaglass, wow! Definitely gonna do post-game stuff and maybe do some monotype runs.

Three Eras

Recently got my first handheld in over a decade. Laughed to myself after I decided to fish out my old 2DS and DSi XL and promptly put them next to my Legion Go. The size of the Go is ridiculous...

I pretty much exclusively used these two for Pokemon until I grew out of it, so now they're just gathering dust and dirt in my desk drawer. Gonna give away these two DS' to some kids in my family after loading them up with third party cartridges and a thorough cleaning and battery swap.

Been awesome to play every system in existence up to PS3/X360 relatively smoothly, all in a "handheld" form factor. Lately I'm having a lot of fun with Bloodborne, it's been incredible to finally experience it after never having a Playstation outside of a 2 a long time ago. And all in bed or on my morning commute on the train! I get some weird looks sometimes because of course I have this huge Switch-esque thing in my hands, but I don't even care.

Ah, and I'm getting into Pokemon again through ROM hacks, so that's been awesome! Currently playing Emerald Seaglass and it's great so far. Now I may fall down the rabbit hole and gun for an AYN Thor, we'll see.

I was worried about dust getting into the fan, as I've seen some pretty nasty pics on here. So... I took a look at my dustless PC: mesh dust filters over every fan. I'd much rather use up a bit of tape as I clean out the filters every once in a blue moon than blow out the fan with air or a vacuum every few months. A better solution to attach the filters would be some double-sided magnetic strips, but I wasn't sure how magnets react with electronics and the Lego in particular - I assume it'd be bad. So for now, I got some sheets of this stuff off Amazon and cut it to size with a box cutter.

From before/after benchmarks, this only shows a minor difference in temperature, about 2~ degrees higher. Masking tape is obviously not optimal here, it isn't designed for high temperatures and the adhesive will wear down over time, but I have some kapton tape coming from Amazon tomorrow which will do the job nicely. I'll also do a much better job applying it this time lol, as this application was god-awful, though it at least it's applied in the right places and not covering any important bits.

While I was taking stuff apart, I also did the joystick replacement: https://a.aliexpress.com/\_mMTjAid

Which made a huge difference and made me fall in love wirh my Lego all over again. Much tighter control and more resistance, also my old left joystick for some reason felt "sticky", it felt very unpleasant to turn. Comfort grips and joystick caps are coming soon too. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it's coming along!
