Jazz Open Mic Nights

Looking for suggestions. I used to go to one at the Uptown Lounge. I think that would was on Tuesday nights. I know the Blue Room has jams on Monday night for $10. Obviously The Foundation, but I'm looking for other stuff. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm pretty much good for any place around the metro. Thanks!

Seeking a host, Insane Shot in the Dark

So, I booked a ticket to come there the 4th to the 7th of August. I've never really spent any time there and just wanted to see a baseball game and the art museum. That's it.

My buddy was going to host me, but all of a sudden he can't. I know this is super cheap, but I'm a broke person, had some unexpected expenses and really can't afford a hotel and to Uber around town. I mean, it'd be like an extra $500, easy.

Also it's kind of not as much fun to do it alone.

Again, this is super weird, but would anybody like to host a complete stranger from Kansas City? I'm just a dude from the suburbs. Writer and photographer. Fun to hang out with, I think.

Anyway crazy shot in the dark. I guess. It'll be interesting to see the replies anyway. Thank you, Atlanta! For real. Thank you.

EDIT: Please, please DM if you're interested in helping. I'm having trouble keeping up with all the comments. Thank you so much!!!

Does anybody remember when 101 The Fox DJ Skid Roadie would do Roadie's Three at 3:00? If so, I would love some examples. Anything you all remember would be great!

Pretty much what the title says. I host a weekly trivia night and I do a thing called Musical Connections. It's basically the same premise and I'm always looking for examples. I suddenly realized it's the same as this old Kansas City radio staple and I thought some of you might have recollections. Thank you so much!

The Tennyson Reference

T'is not too late to seek a newer world.

Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds

To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars, until I die.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down;

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'

We are not now that strength which in old days

Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,—

One equal temper of heroic hearts,

Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Is (Thing I Hate) Terrible?

I hate a thing, but I'm absolutely going to pretend that this is actual question asked in good faith.

Here's all the reasons I hate this thing, presented in the most extreme language possible. I.will present precisely zero reasons for not hating this thing.

Also, I'm definitely a real person.

So how about it, guys? Is this thing I hate terrible and awful and inconceivably bad and evil or are you wrong to disagree with me?

At the Kansas City show, and I am assuming others, he read from someone else's book and recommended it. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was. Does anybody know? Thank you!

What intersections bug you? What's the easiest place to get in a wreck? Where do people drive the craziest, stuff like that? I'm thinking of the Benton Curve or that one spot in Meyer's Circle where southbound drivers always seem to wreck, but I'm sure people have a million more.
