Please help me plan my India itinerary — big cities, local culture, and ancient historical sites

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a 14-days trip to India and I’d love some help building the entire itinerary. I’m especially interested in cities that combine strong local atmosphere with impressive historical sites. My flights are from Delhi roundtrip.

A few preferences:

  • I really enjoy exploring big cities on foot
  • I like walking through typical neighborhoods, markets, old areas, and places where you can feel everyday local life
  • I’m interested in using public transportation and trying local activities, not only visiting tourist attractions
  • I love history, especially ancient or monumental places
  • I’m especially interested in large temples, forts, mausoleums, palaces, ruins, or anything with a very strong historical/cultural feeling
  • I’m coming from Europe, so I’m looking for places that feel culturally very different and immersive
  • I like chilling. I would avoid too much commuting time.

Could you help me plan a full itinerary? I’d appreciate suggestions on:

  • Which cities to include
  • How many days to spend in each place
  • The best route/order between cities
  • What historical sites and neighborhoods to prioritize
  • Good local experiences, markets, walks, public transport, or activities
  • Any cities I should skip based on my preferences
  • Practical advice about transport, safety, weather, and pacing

I’m open to different itinerary lengths, but ideally I’d like something realistic and not too rushed.

Thanks!

I hate some words or sentences

Some words or sentences create in me some feeling of deep disgust. I almost can’t stand hearing them…

Lately I’ve been hearing so often the sentence “my two cents” and I profoundly feel disgust when I hear that. The problem is that this sometimes happens to things me myself create.

At work I have created this tab in a platform that has a name that I now hate. But that’s now in production and I can’t remove it, also I would look like a freak if I asked to change the name. At the same time I get to work on that at least 1/2 times a week and I can’t stand that name.

Doubts about medication

I recently found out I might have OCD. The neurologist wanted to prescribe to me sertraline but I said to wait for now because I am scared as hell.

I have basically two obsessions and one of those is health. I know that sertraline can trigger sexual related dysfunctions and being a man - so caring so much about possible sexual dysfunction or such things - I would go crazy if something like that happened to me. Considering that health is actually my main obsession I am afraid it could make more harm than benefit.

The thing is that I am going through a very difficult period of my life and I am going through huge issues in several domains because of this obsessions and compulsions and I think I have to stop them the earliest possible. I shouldn’t wait long so I definitely could use some help.

Did anybody went through similar situations ? Do you have any idea to help ? Many thanks
