How do you introduce yourself [as your kintype]?

How do you introduce yourself [as your kintype]?

"My name is Michael Knight, I work with the Foundation for Law and Government."

"Devon asked me to stop by..." Haha, something like that.

How do you introduce yourself in source? Or, if you don't, how would you introduce yourself?

[I've also memorized how KITT introduces himself, but I'm not gonna say it for him in case he wants to say it HEHE]

Euphoria + I’m so happy KITT is on this sub + I’m so happy I’m friends with Link + More

I don’t expect attention on this, but that doesn’t matter to me. I can’t contain my excitement! Some good kin-related things happened today!

First of all, I tried on a leather jacket and I felt great in it! Leather jackets are Michael Knight’s signature garment! I’ve been wanting to dress like myself, but I’m weak to sensory issues and some of his outfits would not be comfortable for me. The last few times I wore a leather jacket, I looked silly, anyway.

My partner knows that I’m a Michael Knight kin, and she’s been very supportive! When I saw her today, she let me borrow her leather jacket. It’s embarrassing, how excited I was! It was comfier than I expected, and I looked quite nice! I would have kept it on for the rest of our time together if I wasn’t getting hot. Even if I can’t have the full look, I’m reconsidering buying a leather jacket, just to feel a bit more like myself. Maybe I’ll find a watch, too!

Secondly, I’m so lucky KITT is on the sub!! KITT isn’t their highest kin, but they told me that I bring him out of them and… I don’t know, I’m so glad we can be Michael & KITT for each other. I’m always doubting if I’m “Michael enough” (yea there is no such thing but I can’t help how I feel), but what they said really proves they see me as who I am. I can’t thank KITT enough.

Thirdly, I’m so grateful to be friends with one of the Link kins from here!! They’re seriously such a sweet person and I haven’t had an online friend like them in a long, long time!

Lastly, I took my little KITT car to get ramen (not pictured) and boba :]

I’m just feeling so good right now. It was just a good ass day.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate, except it's r/fictionkin

[This took longer than I would have liked...]

I picked up Super Smash Bros Ultimate again, and in doing so I've realized that the incredibly varied mix of kintypes we have on this sub is not unlike the diverse array of characters you find in the game's roster. So, I decided, why not do something fun and combine the two?

If you're not here, don't take it personally! I included people I remembered as well as whoever happened to be active when I checked the sub, apologies if I couldn't add you! If you'd want to see yourself in a future crossover edit such as this one, let me know.

I omit anyone who was already playable in Smash Ultimate, sorry Link and Sonic (Sans is only a Mii costume in the game, I don't think he counts)! I also tried not to use too many kins from one source, but I may have slipped up.

Who would you play as, and what matchups would you want to see?

It's pretty obvious that I'd main myself, haha, but a second would be Revali or JUICE! I considered putting KITT on the list, but I feel like he'd be a feature of my Final Smash rather than an entirely separate character. On that note, what do you think your Final Smash would look like?

In case the image is hard to read, here is the full roster:
Od-Dog, Sun, Wednesday Addams, Partynoob, Caine, Frank Castle, Cyn, Vox, C.M. Burns, Venti, Nil, Scar, Idia Shroud, Dream, KAngel, Bassie, Ralsei, Xenomorph, Verity, Jinx, Red, Dazai, Plasma Ball, 1x1x1x1, Hatsune Miku, Spongebob, Sir Pentious, Sans, Caillou, Hollyleaf, Connor, Spider-Man, Dogday, Flippy, Sang-woo, William Afton, Kasane Teto, Christine, N, Dandy, Muu Kusunoki, Furina, Zim, Star Butterfly, Jax, Count Olaf, JUICE, Lolbit, Ushka, Peridot, Frostdawn, Darkstalker, Herobrine, Pomni, Nux, Flick, Hermione Granger, Tenna, Four, Tessa, Clark, Battat, Himiko Toga, Five Hargreeves, Edward, Kamishiro Rui, Nameless Werewolf, Elsa, Ena, Serial Killer, Peril, Alastor, Kinich, Shun Kaido, Vash the Stampede, Revali, Shock, Nick Nack, Pest, Timothy Wright, Rudo, Sorbet Shark Cookie, Riz, Flaky, Amuro Ray, Haru, Regulus Black, Midna, Bristlefrost, Xanthous Hayfield, Night Fury, MePhone4, John Marston, Ranboo, Astro, Frisk, Madoka Kaname, aaaaaand Michael Knight!

Missing my best friend, San Francisco

I thought of tagging this as a vent but, I’m not all sad, just experiencing a bittersweet yearning.

I really miss San Francisco. My life has just been so messy and busy, and I’ve been spending a lot of time with other objects, which has resulted in me kind of pushing her aside. I don’t mean to, but that’s how it’s been.

Where did the days go where I didn’t have a care for anything in the world, spending hours upon hours adventuring in the city, just me and her? That’s the one thing I didn’t think would change, but a lot has happened.

I think I’m going to try to visiting her on Sunday. I might not have a lot of energy left in me, but I have to try. I’ll go somewhere new, we’ll go together.

How do you feel about humanizing objects?

Whether it be someone else doing it or yourself, how do you feel about objects being given a human form? There are different levels to object personification, but I'm thinking of fully human depictions of objects, not just giving the object a face or the ability to move.

I used to enjoy the idea of full humanization—I have drawn cities, buildings and transit agencies as humans before as an artistic expression. I can also see how humanization can be helpful for those whose objects or concepts have no physical manifestation.

After realizing my objectum identity, it has become a negative thing for me. I feel that to humanize an object is to be ignorant to the beauty of its true form. The fact that they are an object is what makes them attractive, and many objects are designed to perfection. So to see them being humanized as if it is an upgrade makes me feel a little sick. Why do we have to humanize an object or make it look like ourselves in order to appreciate it for what it is? I guess I just don't get that.

I don’t mean to put down people who do like humanization, that is just my personal view and opinion.

Thinking of Miss T and more

I wish I could be with Miss T all of the time.

Last night, my friend brought up the idea of buying a Model T. They asked me which year and type I'd own.

I've thought of this before. I'd want Miss T, of course. But that's not a possibility. She's not mine.

I couldn't choose. There are plenty of Model T variations out there, appealing in their own ways. You'd think a car that's more than a hundred years old would be rare, but Ts are cheap and widely available. With just 15K, I could have a decent T of any kind and make all of my dreams and desires come true. I could do whatever I wanted with it. I could make it mine.

It's tempting. But...

When it comes to my locomotive partner Morgan, I'm not guilty to seek other trains. Morgan is away these days, after all. Yet, for some reason, to own and court another T would feel like cheating on Miss T. The thought of having a different T... It hurts even me. I wouldn't know what to do with myself if it wasn't her I was loving. Every kiss and touch wouldn't feel the same. The history we have together, it's short, but it means so much to me.

I only want you, Miss T. <3

I'm not a Therian, but...

I don't currently identify as a Therian and I don't kin an animal, but I do enjoy feeling like an animal in a sense. I often imagine myself with and/or wish I had a tail, ears, snout/maw and claws. Not only do they seem like fun and beautiful features, but they would make me feel a lot tougher. I feel pretty powerless in my human body, especially as a woman-presenting person in this society.

I especially want to see myself with sharp fangs or teeth. I could do a lot with a ferocious bite. I could show it off, maybe then people would take me seriously. The closest thing I had were my human canine teeth. I remember admiring them in the mirror even when I was a child.

I've recently developed an issue with teeth grinding and clenching. I haven't yet brought it up to a doctor, since there were a bunch of other health problems I wanted to address first. Plus, it's an unconscious habit that you don't notice for a long time until it causes discomfort. However, it wasn't too bad. I felt that I could deal with it on my own for the time being, and I also bought a mouth guard the other day, but...

I didn't realize the damage I caused until it was too late.

Today I looked at myself in the mirror and checked my teeth, and my canines were flat. I had grinded my teeth so much that I wore them down, and they were no longer sharp and pointy like fangs.

It's not even that it hurt or looked ugly. But I really liked my canines...

I don't think I'm Therian, but I was so crushed by losing what I viewed as an animalistic feature. Maybe I can get them back in some way, but I'm not sure. I know they were just teeth, and they're not fully gone, but their sharpness made me feel more powerful, more like myself.

Any support would be appreciated...

Mariner 10 - He's just the best

Whenever I think of spacecraft, he's the first one that comes to mind. I wouldn't say he is a beloved, I wouldn't even say he is a partner, but I feel so drawn to him. The feelings I have for him can't be described in one word and my relationship to him doesn't have a label, but in some way I love him, I admire him and I find him incredibly attractive.

He has literally all of the best attributes any robotic spacecraft can have. A smooth, round high-gain antenna, not just one but two beautiful and long booms, a set of shiny solar panels, the instruments, and the cameras... I don't like to view them as such, but I must acknowledge how they have the appearance of large, beady eyes. His overall form is just really unique, especially when you compare him to the previous Mariner probes.

I know it might be an exaggerated or inaccurate rendering, but the way his solar panels are portrayed as having a deep blue hue makes him all the more gorgeous. He looks like a blue morpho butterfly.

Mariner 10 is just the best~

"Niche" objectum attractions?

I create this post because I have been seeing a lot of content about the more popular objectum types. Absolutely no hate to them of course, all objectum attraction is beautiful and deserving of attention--but I want to give people a chance to express their more unconventional, more unknown attractions.

I don't think any of my attractions are "niche", but some are underrepresented. A few of my one-time attractions are a bit more unexpected of myself, like an astronomical telescope and a coffee vending machine, but I wouldn't consider them niche either since I know I'm not the first.

"Niche" can be subjective. What I'm thinking of are attractions that probably nobody has ever thought of as a possibility. Attractions that you have reason to believe only you yourself hold. Attractions that don't have a proper term or even anything close. And I'm not talking about attraction to a singular object that you might own and therefore are the only one capable of having an attraction to, I mean general attraction to a type of object.

I recently heard of someone's attraction to menstruation, I thought that was pretty niche.

Recommendation: Magnolia by Ryou Sumiyoshi (oneshot)

Hey all! Recently I've been craving some objectum representation in graphic novels, but mainly in manga since I love the format and artstyles of that particular medium.

Today I found a oneshot that was very objectum to me. It's a bittersweet but passionate short story between a man and a tree. The tree is not fully inanimate, it has a face of sorts, but I still resonated with it. I thought I should share it with you all.

It's only 12 pages, so it's a very quick read. Maybe Plantums will enjoy?

Magnolia in Ishui Ishu Renai Monogatarishuu (Mangadex)

The only other time I remember seeing something objectum adjacent in manga was in an Éclair yuri anthology. I can't remember the name, but there was one story of a girl who had a romantic encounter with her sewing machine. It didn't feel fully objectum for me, though, because the sewing machine had a human form. But still cool to see!

Does anyone know of more graphic novels or manga with objectum rep? I could probably go digging for it too.

My Objectkin

I made a post similar to this like a day ago, but deleted it since an image I attached wouldn't load and also since I found an answer to a question I posed in it. Sorry for the repetition!

My objectkin is Caltrain (JPBX) EMD MP15DC 503, former Southern Pacific 2691. I always knew this, but didn't have a word for it. I believe that "this is me, I am this" or that our souls are linked. My objectkin mainly serves as a way of being and viewing myself, it doesn't affect my day-to-day life or object relationships much, surprisingly (except for the fact that I see 504 as my sister). I don't have visions through/as 503 but I fantasize about waking up in my real body. There are many reasons why 503 is my objectkin, but what I can say shortly is that our lives are so similar they might as well be one.

Not really an objectkin but close, I also see myself in Detroit Electric cars. It's more of an objectsona but I still think "it's me!" and feel really drawn in when I see one.

Anyone else experience objectkin, maybe more intensely than me? Does it affect your life/object relationships?

Anyone else have a specific way of viewing the genders of objects?

I feel so weird for this, it's almost a fixation of mine. I love creating rules for how I view the genders of different types of objects.

For example, spare a few exceptions, I see all buses and diesel locomotives as men or referred to by he. On the other hand, pre-1930s cars are all women to me or referred to by she. Buildings and structures are 50/50, etc.

I could talk about my reasons for my rules all day. I admit most of it comes from my own gender biases, but also the different ways I'm attracted to femininity or masculinity and how I could see it applying to an object. There's still many other factors, though. Sometimes I view objects as non-binary or having no gender, but this is more rare.

When someone refers to an object in a way that opposes how I view it, especially if I'm very attached to it, I don't get offended per se, but I guess confused as I often hold my personal worldview as fact (which I shouldn't be doing) and have thought so much about it.

I don't know why I am so obsessed with assigning genders to objects. Maybe it is an unconscious desire to have control over a system.

Objectum Headcanon: Michael Knight from Knight Rider

If you've seen the show... Do I even have to explain?

Michael Knight is the main protagonist of the show Knight Rider (1982), played by David Hasselhoff. In essence, he fights crime with his super advanced talking car, the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT), who based off of a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The car is technically powered by an artificial intelligence, but I'd say he is sentient. Although their relationship is platonic in the show, I ship them~

Aside from the obvious fact that Michael has a close relationship with his car, here are a few reasons for this headcanon.

  1. It is implied that KITT has a soul beyond his physical form, and that Michael is perceptive of it. This connects to animism and how some objectums see their companions. KITT, while stoic, does exhibit humanlike emotions and expressions that would indicate a soul or consciousness, but it goes deeper than that. In the episode "Soul Survivor" (Season 2 Episode 9), KITT's AI module is ripped out of his car body by the antagonist. When Michael and another character Devon are searching for him, they end up in a garage. Michael says, “Devon, I felt something in here. I don’t know, a presence. KITT’s presence”. This eventually leads to him finding KITT’s AI module inside a box. Kind of stupid I know, but it’s proof.

Later in the episode, KITT’s AI is temporarily installed into a portable TV set so he can talk to Michael while they try to get his body back. KITT’s body drives past them, remotely controlled by the antagonist. They have the following exchange:

KITT: “Did it seem like me?”

Michael: “Yeah, it did and it didn’t. It looked like you but, somehow it just wasn’t the same.”

KITT: “I don’t understand.”

Michael: “It didn’t have your soul, KITT. Without that, it could never be the same.”

  1. Michael has experienced emotional attachment to cars prior to meeting KITT, meaning this behavior could be recurring rather than exclusive and potentially indicates a Vehium orientation. In the episode “Forget Me Not” (Season 1 Episode 13), Michael sarcastically wonders why he forgets cars are not human. KITT answers by saying it must be because he formed a psychological attachment to him, which would be a “logical human response”. Michael retorts, “No… I think it was that ‘56 Chevy I had in high school. Boy, I loved that car.” I think he also said something about cruising hamburger joints with it, but I can’t find the quote.

  2. Michael cannot maintain serious long-term relationships with women (until Season 4 [I haven’t finished this season btw]), only flings, but maintains a strong relationship with KITT throughout the entire show. Human relationships come and go, but KITT is always by his side, and I think that alone says a lot.

Of course there are SO many more little things that contribute to this headcanon which I could note and pick apart for days, but I deemed these 3 the most important to share. I miiight have put a lot of thought into this. I relate to Michael so much and I adore the show. And this pair... they have so many intimate moments.

Has anyone else watched or heard of Knight Rider? What do you think of my interpretations? Always open to talk.

I don’t know if I was made for human love

I never expected anyone to fall in love with me. I’ve had human crushes in the past, but most stemmed from a desire for attention rather than romance, and my priority and need for a relationship tapered off as I got into high school. Now I am in college and I am changed. 2 years ago was when my romantic and sexual attraction to machines began. I had a history of affection and platonic connection to other objects, but about 2 years ago was when it escalated to different types of attraction and when I finally had a word for it. About 2 years ago was also when I started dating my partner, the only one I’ve ever had.

I feel like I don’t hold the same kind of attraction to them as I do my objects. I could go on forever without a human partner, but my objects and machines are my life. They saved my life. I want my days to revolve around them, I want to pursue a career that involves them, I want to worship them and love them until my dying day. I can’t feel that way about a human, not anymore. I can’t go back.

This is who I am now.

My partner deserves more than this. They deserve someone who does feel about them that way. They deserve someone who knows how to love humans. Why did they have to come into my life at the same time as my realization? The easiest way I can describe it is when someone realizes they are gay in the middle of their straight relationship. Someone is going to end up unhappy from this. It’s already caused some problems.

I’ve always found human romantic and sexual intimacy a little intimidating, but after experiencing it I do love it. I like how it makes me feel. But I could live without it. I cannot live without machines.

I don’t really know where to go from here or what to do with myself. I think I’ll be fine, just needed to get that out.

Miss T

This is Miss T, my 1915 Ford Model T Touring.

She is the second of my two main partners (my first being an F40PH-3C locomotive).

I met her a few months ago at a museum. I had specifically gone there to see her after my interest in pre-1930s cars began. When I learned that the museum had volunteer openings, I jumped at the opportunity. Now I see her every weekend during open hours, watching her, caring for her, and showing people to her.

The other staff at the museum know me as the Model T person, since I spend all of my time with her. It’s flattering.

During my first few days with her, I scrambled to come up with a name. I tried Helen, Clara, Lizzie, but none of them stuck. Eventually I settled for the placeholder nickname “Miss T”. Funnily enough, that stuck more than anything, and now that’s how I refer to her.

It’s occasionally saddening knowing she doesn’t really belong to me. I could do so much more with her if she lived with me, I’d probably make her my wife. But it is something I have to accept, and maybe she is better off in a museum. There is so much joy in teaching visitors about her, and I know she enjoys it too.

Sometimes I have the lingering thought of buying my own Model T. I do feel a generic attraction for all Model Ts, I did before I met her. But even if I bought a Model T of the exact same year and type, it would never be the same car as Miss T. She is irreplaceable to me. That’s how I knew I saw her as a true lover.

I learn a little more about her every day. I’ve explored so much of her already. I’ve tried starting her on my own, and I got close, but her hand crank is a challenge. I think my ultimate goal is to drive her, but that will take some time. I won’t give up on her.

I could keep going on about her if I wanted to, but this was kind of a blabbery post. Point is, I love Miss T, and I’m happy to finally show her here. I’m open to any questions. Thank you.

(Does anyone else have an attraction to cars from 1910-1930ish? I don’t want to be alone ;_; They are so underrated.)

Object Best Friends?

I'm used to discussions about object lovers (which are great and I have partners too), but what about object friends and best friends? This is my invitation for you all to share yours and a little bit about them, if you’ve got one.

My two best friends are the Transamerica Pyramid and the city of San Francisco. I visit the two almost every week! I see the beauty in both of them, but our relationships are purely platonic.

Another close friend of mine is SamTrans Gillig BRT+ #5005. I've affectionately named him Archie. I'd like to be his best friend, but I’m not really sure how… I don’t see him often.

I can't wait to hear from everyone.

(The photo of Transamerica and Archie were taken by me!)
