Tips and tricks on beating the heat

Much like everyone in the UK right now my house is stupidly hot. Especially my room, it’s currently sitting at 33 degrees when the temperature out side is 23 degrees. I’m panicking now as my little girl is due to arrive on the 20th August (c-section). I don’t have the money currently to buy a fan/air con till the end of the month, I do currently already have a fan but it’s not the best.

What tips and tricks do you have to cool babies down during the hot weather… please 🙏🏻

Boobs

Is this post Bragging… yes but it’s mostly appreciation!

I’ve always hated my boobs, I always thought they were too big, saggy and heavy, they have no shape and my areolas are huge and ugly.
However today I finally managed to collect in total over 200mls of colostrum! It’s made me think/realise that my “horrible” boobs are in fact incredible they will feed and nourish my baby when she arrives, she’s not even here yet and they are already providing so much. Are they the prettiest boobs … no but they are amazing and I’m proud of them.

I’ve decided to show my appreciation and new found love to name them, my right is called Valerie and my left is Cleo both mean warrior/strong because that’s what they are.
I know this is a really random post and a lot of you won’t care but I needed to share my thoughts and excitement!

Walking after C-section

Those of you who have had a C-section, how long did it take for you to be able to walk and do normal everyday activities such as food shopping or just taking a stroll.

I’m not used to being stuck indoors and was hoping to get out the house a week after surgery even just for a stroll round with the baby.

Numbers seem to be “stabilising” 36 weeks

Hello everyone! During the weeks of 34-35 my numbers had been rising steadily no matter the dose of insulin or what I ate.

However I’ve noticed since I’ve hit 36 weeks my numbers seem to be stabilising in the sense that I can eat my “normal” pre pregnancy meals (higher carbs) and my numbers are still all within the recommended range without insulin (I keep forgetting to take it) (example I had a full dominos medium pizza to myself and my post reading number 2 hours later was 5.5 mmol/L)

I’m sure that this has already been spoken about here before but so many posts makes it hard to find. Does anyone have any insight on why/what is happening to me. I don’t have another GDM appointment booked as my C-section is in 11 days (38 weeks).

I’m still doing my normal nightly insulin (20 units) but as for my daytime and meal time doses I’ve been skipping them (as they were bringing my levels close to below 4 mmol/L)

Example last night my emergency stash of jelly babies (for drops) was looking real good I ended up eating half the bag over the night (naughty I know) but my levels when I woke up were 4.8 mmol/L
