Various miscellaneous questions on jurisprudence.

As salam alaikum.

  1. In this book of fiqh it says that the amount of heavy filth excused on body or clothes is 3-5cm diameter, which is actually quite big -- like a debit card or tennis ball. But it says for human urine, which is likewise heavy filth, that it can be bigger than the head of a needles, which is insanely small.... so.... which is it? 3-5cm, or pin size?

  2. This question and the following refer to a part-time job delivering pizza that I got: first off, checking to see if this is correct but it's permissible to deliver or transfer non-zabihah meat to the kafirun; just not eat it.

  3. The manager said beards should be 1 inch or shorter. I think this is haram in the Hanafi madhab; but, for ease and for the purpose of not going put into homelessness... I could go with the Shafi'i opinion, though it would still be disliked... or.... I could just ignore the rule after hiring, I guess.

  4. The biggest fiqh question that no scholar has been able to solve since the dawn of Islam (joking): The Prophet (pbuh) said if there's hot food, one should eat it before prayer. By analogy, if there's a hot pizza for delivery, and Maghrib and it's short window hits, should I finish the delivery first? What if I know I won't finish the salat by the end of the window? What if I am doubtful?

(Serious) Is OldSchool RuneScape haram?

As salam alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh.

So first off, this is a serious question (and thanks for treating it as such). I feel like many Muslims brush this off in the past because it "sounds silly" and they speak without thinking: "It's just a game, bro, stop thinking so hard"; but God's law, and His Oneness, is serious.

I've been contemplating forming a Muslim clan in a game called "OldSchool RuneScape". I won't go too much into detail but I've pondered making one for community but several aspects of the game were brought to my attention which make me contemplate if it's even permissible to play at all.

The first off is images and creation of ensouled being for character creation, customization, and continued playing (mine is already made) and maintaining God's lordship as the Creator and Fashioner. I looked up some fatwas and articles on how far an image of a living thing can be made and it largely seemed to deal with effacing facial features. This game was made in the 1990's and hasn't updated its graphics sense so, when I look at the faces on it, they seem like dots or lines that wouldn't immediate strike someone as a face if you take it in strict isolation: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/Duv_0OmoXWs/maxresdefault.jpg

The second is the existance of other so-called "gods" in the games, and recharging your prayer points at altars. Obviously they're made up for the pupose of a fantasy world, but this has been a critique of the game. However, it's possible to restore prayer through drinking potions and other methods less skeptical.

The third would be the existence of other haram things in the world: music in the game (they're not made with instruments but sound bytes so bit hard to tell); music instruments usable by the player's character, consumption of khamr (wine, other alcohol) by the character and ability to get drunk. Like praying at these altars: none of these are usually obligatory or common in the game. They're something that can happen. To play the advocate to someone who would say this video game is haram: how is it different from being in the real world, where these things "can" happen but you don't have to? Or does the fact that the game designers put them in in the first place render it forbidden or at least somewhat sketchy?

Pretty extensive question with a lot to take into account but, yeah, I'm relatively new to Islam (6 years study, took shahada not long ago) so this is something that perhaps passed over my head...

I am a big fan of tassawuf and have been reading about the maqam of wara and about how a lot the righteous saints would stay away from things they were skeptical about or, even further, things that were technically halal but didn't advance their Islam in any way they abandoned as a zahid. This is a valid way to look at it. I don't lose anything in Islam by giving this game up. But, at the same time, since I'm relatively new I don't want to bite off more than I can chew and go mega-sufi for now and strictly want to know if something like this, these aspects taken into consideration, is halal or haram.

Can someone explain the order of the second recitation in my circumstances?

As salam alaikum.

As of now I currently know:

* The ending 3 ayatun of Surah al-Hashr

* Surah al-Kawthar

* Surah al-Ikhlas

* Surah an-Nas

I heard that it's disliked in our madhab to recite them out of order. Just making sure that I am following the Sunnah one this matter; based PURELY on what I have memorized so far I should be doing this:

Fajr: Ending of Hashr, Kawthar

Dhuhr: Ikhlas, Nas / Last 2 just Fatiha

Asr: Hashr, Kawthar / Last 2 just Fatiha

Maghrib: Ikhlas, Nas / Last 1 just Fatiha

Isha: Hashr, Kawthar / Last 2 just Fatiha

And when I learn a new surah or set of verses this simply will displace the order as I go through them in sequence.

And say for example I went out of order this Fajr and did the ending of Hashr, followed by Ikhlas. For dhuhr today would I just go back, recite Kawthar, and then proceed again with Ikhlas, fixing the sequence?

Correct?

Additional question: does the sequence reset at any time? Like, reset at midnight? Reset at maghrib? Or it's just continuous; meant to help one recite the entire Qur'an consistently, over and over?

---

Also looking for maybe some good articles (not necessarily Hanafi or Maturidi) on why God made the 5 fardh salat at these times. Like, the wisdom behind it. Why didn't He make one mid-morning?

What's a good beginner book of fiqh for things past the 5 pillars?

As salam alaikum.

I'm somewhat new to Islam (though I studied it years before reversion) and got done with some beginner/medium books on Hanafi fiqh... Quduri's *Mukhtasar*, namely.

While I am content on going deeper into fiqh on the 5 pillars I'd like something on difficulty/reading level of *Mukhtasar* that begins to branch out into other topics: haram and halal actions of the tongue, ears, hands, zabiha, slaughter, classifications of sea food and other foods and drinks, marriage, economics, fardh kaffiyah. Just stuff like that.

Jzk.

Play Old School RuneScape ⚔️🐉? Looking for more Muslims (both free-to-play and pay-to-play) to join our in-game Muslim clan and Discord!

Requirements to join: Must be Muslim (Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah). Regarding ingame there are no required minimum experience, skills, quests, or gear required to join.

In-game Clan: Temporarily going to use a member's clan chat until a new account is established.

Joining Clan Chat while not a member: In the works...

Discord voice communication: https://discord.gg/5QxTCaTtJ5

Main Time Zones: Continental United States of America.

Clan World: TBD (Pay-to-Play), TBD (Free-to-Play).

Current members: 2

Players-versus-Monsters content: In the event of doing bosses or raids we will take into consideration your gear, stats, and consumables you're able to bring -- we're a casual guild mainly meant for Catholics to play the game with each other, but *some* consideration has to be taken regarding these factors to make sure you don't get wiped across the floor in a single shot and become a liability (and some boss mechanics make an underskilled or undergeared player a liability towards others dying or taking massive damage), as well as the ability for you to pull your weight regarding loot. Bare minimums for stats and gear for the different bosses and raids are described in detail in the Discord under the "pvm-guides" chat room.

Players-verses-Player content: In the event of doing PvP and PKing in the wilderness or other minigames, all are welcome, provided a lack of gear, skill, or experience does not interfere with the activity.

Other Activities: All other activities may or may not accumulate requirements just based on what we run into.
