Any suggestions for character strategy

Hi all, I’m a newbie to Traveler. Does anyone have strategies to use when rolling characters? It looks like it’s worth trying to get into university or an academy. After that, are there any favorite party builds? I assume you need a pilot, a mechanic, a heavy weapons/melee specialist, and maybe a face? Any favorite skills?

Any thoughts would be welcome and thanks.

Need Patron Help with Heist Campaign

Hi all, I’m starting a new campaign as a DM where players are starting in a room, hired by a patron. The team has not worked before but will be offered various heists. The patron is secretly a devil in disguise. She will talk about the importance of maintaining order and the need to hire the new team to destroy chaos. My frame thought is as the team succeeds in their heists, they crush chaos, but it may be from the likes of freedom fighters who are attempting to undermine a rule-following reign of terror. If the team continues to, they open the way for their patron to gain more power.

I could use some help:
-if you’ve thought of a campaign like this, please tell me what you’ve done!
-any suggestions on what type of devil?
-I understand devil’s ultimately want souls. Am I barking up the wrong tree? I am looking to have a patron hire the team to influence the physical world. I liked the idea of fighting chaos vs evil, paving a path for the patron to gain more influence, but should I use a dragon masquerading as a noble instead?

Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

Hi all, I could use some help on a homebrew campaign. Long story as short as possible, the party wants to unseat an evil wizard who is using an orc tribe to do her bidding. She convinced them to help her sack a city, and in return she grants them status and complete usage and access to the city. The party is thinking of a large-scale battle to retake the city and they’re looking for help. There are two other groups in the area creating a standoff through a balance of power. One is a group of sellswords. The second is an orc tribe that refused to join the wizard.

Do you have any suggestions on how to run negotiations with the sellswords and the more barbaric tribe of non-wizard corrupted orcs? When the two groups have been content with the situation, how does the party tip the scales? Why do the groups’ leaders listen to the party and what must the party do to win their favor? Any brainstorming is welcome and thanks in advance for any ideas.
