Beware: Morristown Indoor Golf Club

I wanted to share my experience with the Morristown Indoor Golf Club to save anyone else a headache.

Last month, I got a random Instagram DM from Morristown IGC- which I assumed was either spam or accidentally sent to me- stating, "Please delete your fake google review so we can avoid sending a demand letter from our attorney. Thanks." I hadn't even heard of this place, let alone been to it. Nevertheless, I double-checked that I did not in fact write a fake review while sleepwalking or drunk. I ignored the message.

Next thing I know, I am getting calls on my work phone, transferred from our main office. The name on called ID is Morristown IGC- so I decline. They continue to call from multiple numbers, demanding to speak to my supervisor. After the first call, I see they sent another DM saying, "OK, demand letter to your work it is I guess."

Then they called from a private number, and I picked up since I had no idea if it was a legitimate client or not. It was the owner/proprietor of IGC, demanding I take down my review. Once I very impolitely told him that he had the wrong person, he hung up without an apology.

Then I finally found the "fake review" that I supposedly wrote. It was a 1-star with no explanation from someone who has the same first name and last initial as me (e.g. John S.). That's all. That was their "proof" and justification to harass me at work. Thankfully, my workplace was very understanding and helpful in this, but that is not always the case.

As the cherry on top, after looking up the owner's name, I found multiple articles about him getting banned from his own daughters' middle school because he was handing out anti-trans flyers and harassing faculty. Take your business elsewhere!

TLDR: Owner of indoor golf club falsely accused me of writing a fake review and harassed me at work.

33 mpg in a SEL Turbo!

Did a 300 mile drive a few days ago for our family vacation. The first ~150 miles got 32 mpg as reported by the car. 2nd half I showed 33 mpg!

I used the Eco drive mode (which is the least annoying Eco mode I've ever encountered- I'm looking at you, Volvo) but had AC on, cruise set to at least 72 the whole time, and was not trying to drive "efficiently." Regular 87 octane gas.

Pretty impressive numbers from a 268hp non-hybrid car.

When everything works correctly, it really is a great car. I just wish I didn't have to quantify it like that.

I made the same drive last year in a 2025 SEL and got 30 / 31mpg.

2026 SEL Turbo - Defective Battery

This past Sunday my car failed to start and gave a long list of errors on the dash. One of those errors was about the battery, so I tried a jump pack which got it started but with every warning light on the dashboard still on. It started again 15 minutes later on its own. It continued to work all week until Thurs evening when it gave a Transmission error while moving it 30ft from my driveway to my garage. Friday morning it wouldn't start again. Jumped it get it going, but the parking brake would come on as soon as it went into gear so I couldn't move and I had it towed.

The official story / excuse from VW is a defective battery and I'll get it back tomorrow.

Anyone else run into this one yet?

2026 SEL Turbo - Dead battery or something else?

2026 SEL Turbo ~2,600 miles

Last night my wife and I went out to dinner. Starting the car on the drive there, it immediately popped up with the Cruise Control errors we all know too well. Drive to the restaurant, park, lock, all otherwise normal.

Return to the car after dinner. It unlocks as we approach as normal, foot on the brake, and the car doesn't start. Dashboard cycles through what seems to be every error that exists, and every error light on the dash is on.

Error: ABS / Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Error: Hill Start Assist
Error: Exit Warning System
Error: Side Assist
Lane Assist Not Available. Please See Owners Manual
Front Assist is Not Available
Error: Transmission. You can continue driving
Rear Traffic Alert Is Not Available
Error: Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Error: Drive System. Please Service Vehicle
Error: Dynamic Headlight System
12V Power Supply is limited. Please drive with greater care.
12V Battery is low. Please see owners manual

Further attempts to start the car resulted in it telling me the key wasn't in the vehicle (spoiler alert, it was). After a few minutes the screen shut off, and the whole process starts all over.

I call VW Roadside Assistance who tell me it would cost over $90 to tow the car to the VW dealer.

I keep a massive jump pack in my trunk, and the last error message to come up was for the battery, so I gave it a shot. The positive battery terminal is recessed with nearly no room around it to clamp a jumper cable, but I got it on. Car started, but dashboard still lit up like a Christmas tree.

Determined not to let this ruin our night, we drove 5 minutes down the road for ice cream. After getting our ice cream, the car didn't unlock when I approached it. Didn't unlock from the FOB. Had to use the manual key. Trunk wouldn't open from the release on the driver's door, but did from the tailgate. Got out my jump pack, but tried starting it on its own first and it started right up- dashboard still lit up.

If I hadn't had a jump pack in my trunk, we would have been stranded.

I got a 2025 SEL last summer, and had it Lemon Law'd from all the driver assistance errors. Dealer gave me a 2026 SEL Turbo for the buyback price of the 25 as an even exchange. Thought I was getting a good deal.

I know all this stuff can be fixed with simply a software update, but when? It's been a year, and nearly every driver of these cars is experiencing these issues. The educated guess is no update is going to come until after the 27 Atlas is out. I'm tired of feeling like I'm beta testing this for VW.

Currently researching other cars to purchase, and will see what the dealer says when they open tomorrow morning, and predict another Lemon Law judgement in my future.

Edit: Just tried it, and it started right up. Still has a Check Engine Light, but otherwise fine.
