Previous experience with gigapixel 360 panoramas?

**Any testing I’ve done has been on a Quest 3**

Over the years, I have expanded the scope of panoramas that I can shoot to 500+ image 360 panoramas in some fairly unique locations. Besides for the work flow in producing the image, I’m not sure how others have gone about enhancing their work in relation to VR.

The shot above is a down res image of the center of a cave with passageways going in four different directions. My biggest hiccup so far has been deciding the optimal scale the images should be sized down to. Even scaled down to 250 MB seems to lock out my Quest 3. At 12-25 MB, they always load up but lose some of the resolution that is needed.

My ultimate idea is that I could take all of my 360s that I’ve shot in my local area, plot them on like a map, and use it as a way to help those who either geographically or even physically can’t visit those places visit them. Like the cave shot is not handicap accessible, but is a premiere named spot for this park. So kids can maybe get to show their parents this really cool thing they got to see on their school trip at their home.
