Prince of Thieves

So, I am absolutely digging Corsair Cove. I haven't played any of the Anno games, but I have played Timerborn, and there's certainly a few similarities (though fewer beavers).

But I was thinking - my pirate settlement reminds me a lot of the Sherwood Forest camp in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, with crazy ladders going everywhere. I was thinking that if Limbic needed a subject for their next game, Robin Hood might be a lot of fun - sending your Merry Men out to rob the rich, deciding how much to give back to the poor, gradually assembling commanders from among the legendary characters (Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett, etc.). You could even expand the card-based combat to actually have some dueling or an archery mini-game.

Just a thought.

Question about Prescience - How do the gaps work?

So I kinda understand how prescience works (I mean as much as mere mortals can), that it’s sort of like Dr. Strange sitting there going through all fourteen millions outcomes of the fight with Thanos, only far more elegant, ingrained, and immediate. No sitting around with your semi-transparent head flashing in multiple directions.

But what I’m struggling to understand are the gaps. When Siona is bred to be invisible to prescience or the no-ships are constructed to hide from prescience, how does that work? A person can potentially have a pretty far-reaching impact on the world. Does the prescient only see futures where that person never existed at all (It’s A Wonderful Life-style)? Does one gap, any gap, therefore call into question the validity of any prescient vision? Is that the point? How could Leto II known that Siona would *ever* exist? Wouldn’t his visions just show him continually failing to breed an invisible person? Or is it more focused - identity and intention of the person is obscured, but their impact on the world at large is still visible, i.e. you can see the footprints in the sand but you can’t see who left them?

I get that Dune is Science-Fantasy so there’s a bit of seeming space-magic here, but I’m trying to wrap my three-dimensional brain around it. Any thoughts?

Are there any games where wounded enemies act like it?

In most games, when you’re fighting a boss, the boss hits at full strength and moves at full speed right up until his hit points reach 0 and then he keels over. Are there any games that try to model damage accurately, and as you chip away at a boss, they slow down and fight worse because you’ve been gradually slicing them up like deli meat? Doesn’t need to be very accurate (like one shot kills), just a bit more immersion.

Exhaust from the DeLorean

So, I don’t know why I was thinking of this, but in BTTF, when Marty kicks it up to 88, the flux capacitor engages, and a nuclear reaction takes place to generate the 1.21 gigawatts, there should have been a major a pretty major radiation surge, right? The reaction exhausted a whole (albeit small) fuel rod in one instant.

The DeLorean appears to have pretty serious exhaust fins on the back, so presumably that’s directing the fallout away from the driver’s cab. Does that mean that the Libyans basically inhaled the full brunt of a Chernobyl-lite-level of radiation since they were right behind him, and stopped suddenly, presumably in the middle of that cloud? Can we assume these guys are going to have major radiation burns, sickness, and organ failure? I don’t think they’re making it out of the country.

Nativity Lantern

Buddy of mine printed up a bunch of these little nativities, and so I thought I'd paint it up and put it in a lantern for a decoration next December. Merry Early Christmas, everyone!!

My daughter asked for a cake with butterflies, bees, and rainbows. My mom delivered!

Posting this on Mom’s behalf. She really went for broke with this one. My daughter audibly gasped when we cut into it and saw inside. BTW, the jar of honey is fresh from her neighbor’s beehive.

My Dune Book Nook

This is my Dune-themed book nook. It’s my first time creating one without a kit (flying without a net), and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s actually a gift for my nephew, since we’ve been seeing the Dune movies together. Dune’s been one of my favorite books since high school, so I hope you like it!
