Friend calls me my deadname after i told them not to??!!!
Some insight to this story: I am in a great relationship with all my friends and we all respect each other. We love hanging out and we are super almost no filter!!!
Now for the story!
I (23FTM) and my friend (24M) have known each other for about three years. We’ll just call him Cliff. Okay, so me and Cliff are pretty good friends. We like joking around and he always jokes about my sexuality (gay and panromantic, etc.) which might be a red flag… Anyways, we hang out a lot and I’m about to move places and shit, so he is getting weirdly attached to me and really annoying about “but when you move blah blah yadda yadda.” Cliff isn’t the type to be clingy and shit, but he’s been weird lately. I tbh don’t want to be his friend anymore, but he’s in the friend group with a few others. We’ll call them Jo, Ami, and Bryce. Ami and Jo are respectful of my gender and rarely use my deadname. Bryce doesn’t even know I’m trans lol.
Back to Cliff.
A few weeks ago, i was texting in a group chat with a few friends, Kate and Hana. Kate was using gender neutral pronouns for most of us and Hana was barely texting. Then, out of nowhere, Cliff texts: ‘And yes {deadname}, those are my logical thoughts for the day, there will be no more.’ So in my head I’m like wtf, so I respond with: ‘Anthony, dumbass.’ And he just says: ‘Sometimes i think, but then i forget.’ I was trying to be funny, so i said: ‘I’m not surprised.’ The he said smth about discord and then i told him what my deadnames were (my name and dead-nicknames). Then he just fucking responds with: ‘Okay, {deadname}’ and a smug emoji? Hana just sends: ‘.’ And Kate says nothing. Obviously I’m like: ‘Not cool, bitch. That’s annoying.’ I told him i didn’t like my deadnames and he didn’t even apologize for using it! On purpose, nonetheless!
Now i have one question: Do i stay friends with him at all?
