FTC CARS act: sI anyone doing anything?
Hi all, one of the awful people that work at a dealership here. Sarcasm. I actually work at one of the most compliant dealer groups in the country, and I find the stuff I see posted here truly shocking. Our group, at least in my experience at my store, was always in compliance with the measures recently signed off on by the FTC in March with the CARS act. Since then, we have gone above and beyond with compliance, to the point where every customer must initial a pencil with the advertised selling price, and any products or packages offered beyond this must be clearly marked as "Optional".
As I continue to see examples of dealerships operating in ways that are clearly outside of compliance with the CARS act, I have to wonder... are people just unaware of this rule, or does the FTC have no teeth? As someone in the industry who operates with ethics, I have an interest in seeing those that do not get punished.
