Does Ghosts of Tabor have Skill Based Matchmaking?

I’m pretty knowledgeable about most aspects of this game, but one thing that I’ve never gotten a clear answer on is this. I’ve seen both yes and no answers. Plenty of people commenting on videos saying “this guy’s lobbies are easy”, “I would be doing better but my lobbies are too hard”, etc..

Is there any concrete answer that Tabor has skill based matchmaking? Or is it truly randomized?

Scope OG/Scott AMA recap? Adding ammo types, no new guns at wipe, etc.

Does anyone have a recap of the recent AMA with Scott and Scope? I am interested to see what’s coming. What I have heard so far is that:

they are planning to add multiple ammo types when durability comes out

The new boss’s name is Kozar, he has a new chest rig, new gun, and new helmet/face mask

No new guns besides boss gun will be at wipe, but possibly at some point in the wipe we could see some

AI rework planned to be implemented a few weeks after the wipe

Underground is staying.

Player driven market is done being developed, but not ready for release. Looking at 2027. They had to lock it in with the publisher so it is a for sure thing.

Lightning and thunder being added to Island at some point.

Bag collision planned to come back.

Gun smithing could possibly involve some type of 3D printer with blueprints you can find in raid- didn’t share much about that- but that’s just an idea they’re messing with

ScopeOG’s streamer item will be a 1x12 pic rail scope. Pretty damn cool!

Any other highlights yall have heard?

Edit: also it is a fact now that keycards and ammo will 100 percent be removed from Secure Containers at wipe.

Never Wipe Box will not be given, it will be unlocked. Supposedly it will be harder than the Omega Container to unlock.

Flashlights similar to EZ are in the works, with blinding effects.

Wipe this Month! Legacy Will Receive Slight Updates, Armor Durability Pushed Back!

Thoughts? I like that Legacy is being looked at, the cheating is literally happening almost every raid, and I am not one to say things like that ever. Armor Durability is still being worked on, thank God they are not releasing an unfinished system. Also so pumped for wipe! Hopefully we see a reduced loot table and it’s harder to level traders.

I think AI should get a rework before Armor Durability is implemented.

As the title says, I think in Tabor’s current state of AI, armor durability is going to be extremely hard to stay on top of. I’m sure we are all aware of how the current AI works, so I’ll save some text on that.

Without trying to compare games, I think that the way EZ’s AI works is phenomenal. They move like players, push and peak, but they don’t hit you center mass from far distances with every shot. I think that Fenix need to operate similarly to that. Yes they run off sometimes, but there’s no thought or reason behind how the AI behave. If armor durability is implemented with the current state of bots, those 3-4 chest shots you take every time you walk 100 meters near a Fenix will start to add up. This feature is already not being received well by the community, but I think if the AI rework happens first, it will help tremendously with balance. I’m also open to ideas with Fenix having better armor with random durability, but that may be asking for too much. I think we as players should have more of a chance to operate tactically against AI during a raid.

Armor Durability Coming Soon

What do yall think? I’ve enjoyed this feature in Exfilzone. I do think Tabor and EZ have extremely different styles of combat, and I think it is going to be extremely interesting to see how the player base is able to adapt.

Update to Secure Container Discussion: Ammo will be removed.

I didn’t realize Scott had addressed this already in the Discord before I made the post. I don’t usually look there unless there’s patches happening. Apparently Secure Containers are already getting reworked, and ammo will not be able to go in them.

Secure Container Discussion

Obviously, Secure Containers are a controversial topic. Some people think they are perfect, some want tweaking, and others want them abolished entirely. I am curious what you guys think.

In my opinion, I think that Secure Containers are a core component of modern Extraction Shooters, and will not/should not be removed. However, I do think they are extremely OP in Ghosts of Tabor. I’ll focus on the Alpha Container, since less people actually unlock the Omega.

When you unlock the Alpha Container, you basically unlock the ability to “Raid without Risk”. What I mean by that is the majority of your essentials that would be otherwise detrimental for you to lose, are now not losable. Out of those items, the three I believe to be a problem, are Med Items, Ammo, and Keycards.

Med Items are less of a problem, but the sheer amount you can store because of the size of the containers make it so this now goes in to “problem” category.

Ammo, (mainly drum mags, and AP mags), should not be able to be put in containers. Period. Even FMJ. If you want to use that AS VAL drummy you found in raid, then use it. But you shouldn’t be able to carry it around in your ass until you find players. The same applies to AP. If you want to bring 3 drum mags of AP in to raid, cool, but if you die with it, you lose it. As an extraction shooter should be.

Keycards, self explanatory. You should have to risk bringing it in to raid. I know a lot of people miss actually finding keys in people’s backpacks. In the current state, all you have to do is camp or wait for a dead raid, then hit it with zero consequences.

As far as what I DO think should be allowed in Secure Containers, High Values and Quest Items. I think allowing these retains some of the balance and use for the container.
My solution is that the size of the Alpha and Omega containers are extremely reduced, or subjected to a “slot” system like Exfil Zone has. As well as making the changes in the items allowed that I have listed.

There’s just so little “risk” anymore and when you’re good at this game, it gets stale so fast.
I know many people will disagree because they use Secure Containers as a crutch. Players that are not good at PvP or children will probably hate the thought of having to risk their gear. I also think they should not be buyable. You should be given ONE at completion of the quest, and that’s it. Now if you want a container, you can’t trade for one. You have to actually play the game.

“If I couldn’t have AP or cards in my container well then I would never have them with how often I die!”- is not an excuse to keep doing things this way.

Anyway, that’s my opinion. I’m not saying I’m right or that it’s even a good opinion, but I do think these things would enhance the Extraction Shooter side of the game.

New Player, Got a Few Questions

So I finally decided to dip my toes in to this game, coming from Ghosts of Tabor pvp. So far, I’m level 2, and on the Johnny’s Drill mission. Everything has been pretty self explanatory, but some things are confusing me.

  1. The “Joining Raid” text on the left of the screen is literally almost out of view for me, and travels with head movement. Is there a way to adjust this?

  2. As I understand it, Leg Meta is my only option right now when I run in to geared players. I figured I would be in noob lobbies for a minute, but I’ve been dropped by a juiced random about 5 times now. That being said, what are your go-to low level kits? I’m pretty good at positioning and gunfights, I’m just not sure what is actually at my disposal.

  3. Are there ways to level up traders besides quests? Maybe I’m missing something on the UI. And are the traders I should focus? They all seem to sell a little bit of everything?

  4. How the hell do you turn on the generator lol I’m embarrassed at this point. I can’t seem to find fuel. I was supposed to get a large fuel can from a quest reward but I didn’t receive anything, but I may be completely misunderstanding what that was 😂

  5. Are there any specific items I should focus looting? It seems like every lootable item has a purpose, which I love, but I have no idea what to take or leave. Are “legendary” items always must-take, like how should I use that ranking system?

Thanks to anyone that responds!

Went to a NIGHT Island raid, took 4 minutes to load in so I thought I was alone, met all 7 of these boys at Church 🫩

Spawned by Labs and ran towards Church to check Fish Cultists. It took over 4 minutes to load in so I really thought I had a dead lobby. As soon as I got to Church, a player ran out the front door. Gunned him down, then heard his 2 teammates inside. Killed one that tried to flank, then the third unmuted and tried the “I’m naked bro please don’t kill me” tactic, then jumped out with an AK Alpha 🫩. After those 3, I got pushed by a guy from Labs, then a duo from crater, then another guy from Labs. I was stuck in Graveyard, so I just strafed between headstones and shot. I have no idea how I lived it, I was at 1% health twice, and used every single med in my bag and ass. Packed it up, ran to Orange.

Got 7 players in total plus a fenix at Labs. All were geared, didn’t take the T5’s as I don’t use them. Who the fuck runs Collector-Altyn on Island. Also finally got another Mamba rig, but with a Fish Mask and a FAL 😂
Really fun raid!

Everyone Received Drop Rewards?

It appears that everyone that has their Twitch accounts linked has received the previous event’s Drop Rewards, regardless if they watched Twitch Streams or not. It’s insane they handed out Delta Containers so early in wipe lol but it is what it is.

AP bullets in FMJ boxes?

Has anyone else encountered this? It’s definitely a weird one. So just the backstory because it’s weird:

I was in Silo, I had killed 4 players so I knew there could have been one more but I wrote it off, as it was pretty late in raid. I’m scouring through boxes looking for wire spools when I hop to the sewer level of the actual silo, and to my surprise there was a timmy hanging out in the spawn. Got rid of him but I noticed something strange. It looks like he had been down there the whole time playing around with ammo. I mean bullets were scattered everywhere, AP and FMJ, all 7.62x39. These 4 FMJ boxes were also there. I looked everywhere for the black box of AP but it wasn’t there. I look closer, and every red box contained black tip ammo. I shrug it off, thinking it will change if I take it out of raid.

Nope, boxes still red, tips still black even in bunker. So I take it a step further, I load some mags and go back in to Silo, thinking it will register as FMJ. Nope again. It was AP, and my kills registered as AP as well.

So what the hell happened here…? I didn’t actually pull the boxes myself so I don’t know for sure they spawned this way. So why did this random Timmy have 4 boxes of AP in FMJ boxes..? They were all the same caliber so no way he found them in that raid? Why was he playing around with the bullets in his spawn? He must have brought them in, but why? It just makes me wonder if there’s a new dupe method going around.

I know it’s not that crazy, but a killing a trio in raid like this in such an early stage of wipe is huge. 2 T6’s, 2 T5’s, helmets, NVGs, 3 AK Alphas all with 3 tick drums of AP, M249, MDR, ass load of meds and fruit, and a purple.
