Serene Bamboo Grove

A tranquil place to escape in Rocky Ridges. I was working on redoing my waterfall and cavern, then I got experimental with the new plants. This is my take on bamboo!

The poles I used are iron pillars, I felt like the glossy sheen looks a lot like bamboo poles. I recolored them in multiple shades of green to get the segments to pop. You also need a bit of finesse - place the poles longer than you need and then delete the tops and bottoms to get a round pole instead of a flat edge it automatically makes. It was a fun build to put together!

Climbing Roses Design

A simple trellis concept using the new pieces and plants to make a climbing flower garden. It's very peaceful to be surrounded by the roses, I think this will grow into a whole rose terrace. Let me know if you find a lovely spot for it in your gardens!

Deep Sea Passage

For anyone else interested in building a connection between the deep areas, I found an easy path to connect the staircase by the Pokemon center to the rest of the deep waters. It's a WIP but for some reason charting out the abyss was a priority for me.

Found my child

Everyone seems to have their favorite Pokemon they didn't notice at all before this game. Today I met mine - Shellder! It's little tongue-y smile is so cute I literally forgot what I was doing! The way it cleans the pearls with its tongue, so happy like a pupper! Why he walk backwards? I am so in love! What Pokemon have you adopted?

A Love Letter to Rocky Ridges

Today is all about Bubbly Basin, but here is a brief review of the labor of love I leave behind me. Two months ago I landed in Rocky Ridges with Magnemite and started to transform the mountainscape! I uncovered so much natural beauty and potential, without destroying any of the mountains that give the map it's identity. I built a mountain shrine and celebrated the Star Festival! Now my world looks like a Ghibli animation and I love every time I walk through the breathtaking scenery.

I will be back home soon to do more, Rocky Ridges! Wonder what I will bring back with me?

What worlds are you leaving behind to dive into the ocean?

Mystic mountain lake

A crystal blue lake, formed in the natural crater of a mountain. Adding natural water was my next step in transforming the Rocky Ridges. For this project, I wanted to have a still clear pool filled with fossils and minerals and surrounded by wildflowers. And, I am actually obsessed with the way the different stones and crystals shine and catch sunlight on the bottom of the clear lake!

The carpet of blue flowers surrounding the lake is inspired by the nemophila flower fields at Hitachi Seaside park… and is still a work in progress as I had to print every single one t-t

This is also the only zone I have done with a vision but no clear idea who would live here. Finding Suicune would be perfect! But maybe it's prepped for Milotic? What Pokemon would you put up here?

Forest Moss Den

I have just finished moving the lax family into their new mossy forest in the mountains! Mosslax's new den is inspired by Totoro's tree cave. They are absolutely shining in their new forest shrine, covered with flowering moss and dappled sunlight.

Cozy fires at the Night Market

As an apology for the first lame party I put on in Rocky Ridges, I am redoing the entryway as an eternal summer festival! This area is themed after the night market in Spirited Away. I love how alive it feels with the cozy smoke puffs calling you in from a distance!

PSA for filling large lakes

If you have struggled with water surface mechanics and making deep pools, you will understand the epiphany I had on this video!

It came while I was struggling to fill a massive crater lake in the mountains of Rocky Ridges. I was struggling to fill each dip in the water manually aboard a raft, and realized it was never going to work. So I started from the top instead!

Method: Just fill in a layer of blocks one block below where you want to water surface. Place the water on top. Then, use your Magnemite to zap out the terrain blocks. Voila, even water surface with no "holes"!

With this trick I can fill water to any depth!

Sacred Forest Cemetery

A mountain forest sprawls beside a shinto temple, it's path lit by the lanterns for the dead. Within it's sacred trees hide moss covered graves that look as old as the temple stones. They are a monument to the human monks who once walked here. This is a place where candles are lit in quiet memory.

Inspired by Okunoin, a beautiful Japanese temple cemetery! I built this to house the Litwick family and it turned out so cozy and scenic that I may expand it further over the mountainscape.

This graveyard was an addition to my Temple of Nine Flames - a huge project I have been sharing piece by piece! If you like it, you can see more of my shrine mountain:

Make a wish with me at Tanabata! Walkthrough of my Festival Square

In honor of the Star Festival, I fulfilled my dream of redoing Rocky Ridges square with Minior lanterns. This theme combines my love of the cute little meteor with all the spirit of a summer festival in Japan. There is more I want to do here, but I am already in love with the colorful maximalism!

Tonight, it's time to set up the games and fireworks!

Temple of Nine Flames

A closer look at my shinto temple rebuild of the Altar of Flames. It started as just an altar rebuild - but I wanted it to feel like part of the town’s identity. So, I have rebuilt the mountainscape around it! You can see the path to the shrine here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pokemon\_Pokopia/s/UMwIWaFcww

The temple is both a shrine to the fire legendaries within, and a dojo and training grounds for fire and fighting types who want to test themselves. The climb to the top brings you to an arena guarded by Arcanine. The black volcanic sand gardens in the front pay homage to the power of the volcano. The inside is only partly finished, but features a lava shaft straight down to the lava fields hidden below in the heart of the volcano. https://www.reddit.com/r/Pokopia/s/VewWvrvIyF

Star Festival Stage with traditional Taiko

My pokemon are still getting ready for the colorful summer festival of Tanabata!

What festival square would be complete without a splashy stage? For this step I needed a bigger stage in Rocky ridges - as well as a much needed reskin over the entire square.

Smearguru and I worked to create the perfect backdrop with a cloudy mural and rainbow brickwork. The Taiko takes center stage, to bring a traditional vibe to this outdoor venue!

Take the path to my Mountain Shrine

A first look at the Temple of Nine Flames, a huge background project I have been working on! I am so intimidated of sharing... But more pics and videos will be going up on my profile.

Take the thousand steps of the torii trail up to the Temple of Nine Flames! Or, explore the scenery of the mountainside, where the volcano has given life to gardens and inspired local shrines. Before you ascend the temple steps, be sure to visit the memorial to departed monks. Here moss filled graves fill the forest, attended by floating flames of ghost Pokemon. If you carry a candle to the top of the temple, you will find the guardians Arcanine and Growlithe. They protect the dojo at the very top, where fighting fire types take on challenges!

I know a lot of us have built the altar of flames in Rocky Ridges - but for me, rebuilding it as a shinto temple became a journey that reshaped my entire map. I love how the mountains became home to so many fire types. Seeing Entei walking the hills here is a joy! I am proud of where I went with this build and hope to keep adding to it.
