A demonstration of cavitation

Cavitation is a scary phenomenon

by definition- Pump cavitation is a damaging process where localized pressure drops inside a pump cause the liquid to turn into vapor, creating bubbles. As these bubbles move to higher-pressure areas, they collapse violently. This implosion generates intense shockwaves that can pit and erode metal components, destroying the pump over time.

I was lucky enough to witness this demonstration as well as tear down these pumps to inspect the damage caused to these Fybroc fiberglass centrifugal pumps.

So I have buried and let my 60 gallon pond acclimate to get water cycled for my goldfish/ mosquito fish pond to deal with the mosquitoes from a nearby creek. I have a submersible carbon filter rated for 80 gallons in the pond but my ammonia levels and nitrite levels are through the roof. Is there any kind of filters I can add to this to not disturb the surface and also make it livable for fish? It has been running for around 3 weeks and I’ve done several 50% water changes. I’ve also planted a couple different plants, put some drift wood and water conditioners. What am I doing wrong and what should I do before I buy said fish.
