2. Leverage social media and memes

Use satire, memes, and simple calls to action (like Google forms) to spread quickly. Build a sense of identity and community. Focus on triggering strong emotions like anger or fear. Coordinated digital campaigns help push content far and wide.

3. Move from online to offline

Begin with online outrage, shift to small real-world actions, test public reaction, then scale up later (often months after the original issue). Bring in known public figures as faces of the movement.

4. Amplify through coordinated efforts

A smaller core group of genuine protesters can be made to look much larger using mass online accounts. External networks sometimes help shape the message and reach. Media and platform amplification plays a big role in creating the appearance of massive organic support.

5. Political piggybacking

Opposition parties often join in to boost their own visibility, turning the movement into a broader political opportunity.

6. Keep it going through goalpost shifting

If the original demand is met, shift to wider systemic or political demands to maintain momentum and prevent the movement from dying out.

7. Escalation and blame shifting

Build narratives of inevitable government crackdown. When violence occurs, direct public anger toward authorities. This can justify more extreme actions and bring international attention.
