stop having a go at retail staff for asking you if you want an email receipt

i work in a shop which offers an email receipt (e-receipt) as an option. people LOVE to complain, whinge, tell me their life story etc when i simply ask them a question i’m pretty much forced to ask every transaction.

we don’t care if you say no, as long as it’s just ‘no thank you, i’ll have a paper receipt’ WHICH WE STILL OFFER BTW. i don’t want to hear how you’re scared of being hacked, don’t want spam (which is completely optional btw) or how you ‘don’t have an email’. it’s 2026 come on. (unless you’re an OAP then fair enough)

for my shop, the customer has to tick a box themselves to opt-in to marketing emails. if we do this without asking you, we get into massive trouble. if you give us your email, you’ll only receive the receipt unless you tick that box. we even turn our screens around so customers can type their email in themselves and tick the box if they want!

i think people forget that retail staff are required to ask this. at the end of the day, we get monitored on how many e-receipts we got, and even have a target to reach daily. fall below this target, we get told off.

trust me, we don’t like asking just as much as you don’t like it. i wish people would just be polite about this and stop having a go at us! we’ll gladly give you a paper receipt.

EDIT: the point of this rant is very clearly going over peoples heads, and it’s those same people who act like a dick to retail staff. i was never saying ‘how dare you say no to me asking for your email!!!’ but actually ‘please stop being rude to us retail staff when we ask you a question that’s unfortunately part of our script while on till.’

and no, we can’t just go and tell a manager about this. clearly some of you have never worked in retail for a huge corporation.

having implant removed, what next?

TLDR: having implant removed, still want to be protected. what can i do?

i’ve had my implant in since september 2024. with this alone, i’d have constant bleeding. light and medium flows, sometimes leaking onto my underwear as it was never constantly heavy enough for a tampon. some days it can be, so i’ll only use a tampon like twice a month?
to combat this, i started taking the combined pill alongside it. while this worked at first, i’m now back to constant bleeding every day. still light to medium, no cramps or anything, but VERY annoying.

now, i’m absolutely sick of hormonal birth control. i just want to go back to having normal periods, which i’ve not had in about 3 years. (i started the pill alone in 2023). i’ve booked in to get my implant removed in june!

i’ve been looking into getting the copper IUD, however i’m still apprehensive about this. i don’t think i’d be able to handle the heavier and longer periods, cramps or even the procedure! my periods before used to be around 4 days with little to no cramping at the end.

my boyfriend (who i’ve been with for a while) does not like condoms. i know that i can’t just let his decision be the end of it, so i’m going to have a talk with him later on. this would be my favourable option. a condom would be preferable over a pregnancy! i’m only 21 so have more things on my mind than having a child any time soon.

if anyone could give me advice, or even discuss their experiences, i’d be very grateful!

thank you!

TLDR: On 50mg, planning to drink buckfast and skipping a dose tomorrow. will this be okay?

Currently I’m on holiday and managed to find some buckfast, which i’ve always wanted to try but never been able to find! I bought a bottle, only to read after the purchase that it’s highly caffeinated (and of course, alcoholic)

I take 50mg a day of elvanse. I’ve had no issues thus far, and even been able to enjoy one alcoholic drink here and there. There was one day when I got VERY drunk at a hen do, completely forgetting that I took my meds, and I was ruined. I felt like I got drunk super quickly after 3 glasses of tequila and apple juice. I never drank coffee, so that’s been no issue, but I have had to cut out energy drinks and only have the odd cup of tea.

A doctor told me that if i plan to drink, skip the dose. I’m just a bit apprehensive about this, for some reason? It’s not the alcohol side I’m worried about, it’s the caffeine!

I’m planning on skipping my dose tomorrow just to allow me to drink the buckfast and hopefully any other drinks throughout the night.

Will this be okay? Has anyone else had any experience like this? Thank you! x
