Just got my Dentures!

I’m beyond excited about them! I think they look perfect, but now I’m afraid of using the wrong thing on them and destroying them. So, I would like to have everyone’s favorite Denture Must-Have, especially if it’s something that you wish you had when you first got your dentures.

Thank you to everyone who reads this, and to everyone to writes and responds here. You guys are amazing!

First Try-In

Yay! They look better than my natural teeth! I can’t even begin to tell you how much better I feel, just knowing this is going to be my future. My only issue is that I seem to have quite a few, rather large bone spurs and the worst of them are in the front on the top, where my canines used to be, and on the bottom left furthest molar. Does anyone have any advice on what to do to get rid of them sooner? My dentist just told me to just rub them and they will work their way through. The one on the bottom is eroding my gums as it works its way out, not fun.

So is there a pill? Drink? Herb? Movement? Dance? Voodoo rituals? Anything that could speed up this, very painful, process of getting bone spurs out?? Please? I also don’t really want to go back under to get them removed, but if that’s my only choice….

What is this?

Hello all! I am about 6 weeks post e-day at this point, and every day I have bone spurs coming through my gums, ick. Definitely not my favorite feeling. However, that little black thing in the picture came out of my bottom molar extraction site. Do we know what it is? I had a total of 27 teeth pulled at once, and I’m doing ok without teeth right now but I do have my first try in appointment in two weeks (hooray!). But anyway, I had to pop that little black thing out of the extraction site, and to me it looks like a filling. My teeth used to constantly push out fillings, so I’m pretty well versed on what broken fillings look like. But, when I asked my dentist if it could be a filling, he basically told me that it was just a dark bone spur (he wouldn’t even look at the picture), but it’s not bone!

So, has anyone else dealt with this? Is it possible that my dentist left a filling and took the tooth? There is no other way it could have gotten into my mouth. Any ideas or anecdotes are welcome!

Dental Progress

Don’t worry, I won’t share any pictures.

As of June 4th, I had all of my teeth removed. That’s 25 teeth, all out at once. I thought it was hard to eat before this, I was wrong. I have a lot of support from my family, friends and medical team when it comes to getting dentures. I don’t think a single person on my support team actually thought about the fact that I will have no teeth for at least 8 weeks. I have been told several times: “Please put a mask on, I can’t handle seeing the holes in your mouth.” But the problem lies in the fact that if I can’t open my mouth wide enough (either because of a mask or just trying to keep my mouth closed) you can’t understand me!

As far as how I’m feeling, well, the sharp pleasejustletmedie nerve pain is gone for the first time in years. Unfortunately, I now have that lovely CRPS burning/itching feeling all over the inside of my mouth, all the time. My PM says that it might go away because I won’t have as many “active” nerves when my mouth heals completely. So, that’s a happy thought.

Thank you for reading. I’m happy to answer any questions. I hope your pain levels are well below normal. 🧡

It finally happened

My husband and I have been together for about 11 years, and we have always had cats. The original two have both passed away at this point, the most recent being less than two months ago. That one hurt. She was 17 years old. I had had her for her entire life, she was my baby girl. After losing her my husband announces that he now feels like he needs to have a kid.

What’s that now?

I strongly believe it’s because he feels like he’s running out of time to make his mark on the world. But he can’t possibly think this is a good idea! He knows that I’m not going to be the one to give him a baby. I’ve been on the Depo shot for over 20 years, I’m over 35, and I just had all of my teeth removed. What part of that says, “hey! Let’s make a baby! Even though pregnancy would likely maim, if not worse, me at this point of my life.” I am pretty sure he knows that he’s not going to get a kid from me.

But then he starts making “jokes” about the pretty girls he works around. Saying things like “so and so wanted to go get drinks after work tonight, because we were having so much fun chatting!” He’s a naturally charming man and he’s also very good looking. Due to the fact that he works for the government, he keeps his personal life private. Great, I love that idea. No one knows he’s married. Everyone knows he wants kids. I don’t feel ok with that. I know everyone is going to tell me to walk away at this point, but without him, I literally have nothing. I can’t drive, and the only thing in my name is the storage unit. I need him, and he knows it.

This is going to get complicated. He keeps telling me that he wants to stay with me, but then gives me the cold shoulder for no reason. I know what you are all going to say, but please remember that I’m fully disabled and I rely heavily upon him. Thank you for reading. I don’t know what I’m expecting from this post.

ETA: Yes, I get it, being on the Depo shot as long as I have is crazy. Fine whatever. It’s my body, I know the risks! Believe it or not, they don’t even blip on my radar in comparison with everything else I have going on. Also, my teeth are a combo of genetics and severe facial trauma, nothing to do with the shot. I have no bone density issues as of five weeks ago when it was last tested.
