It's summer time - I ride a bike around town all the time and every year I see around this time lots of natives wandering in the streets. I've encountered many of them and wondered how people deal with them? They are often in the bike lane, despite there be at least 10 feet of sidewalk on either side of the road and not that many peds.

Does anybody know why they do this? How do we convince them it is not good for them and that we have sidewalks for them to use? Is this a territorial thing? Who has the right of way?

For those that may ask, I always verbally engage them, and those accents are only exported from nyc in this century.
