Aventon level 3 pedals won't move forward

This is my first ever e-bike and I don't know how to fix it. Also when I move the pedals back the back wheel doesn't move at all

Edit: I was in 8th gear so I moved it down to 3rd and it moves just fine now, thanks to everyone who helped me figure it out.

Reliable e-bike for commuting to a college campus

I live 7.5 miles away, I'm in Florida so their are no hills but the heat index has been in the hundreds lately, and I'm will to spend $1500-$2000 so long as it lasts me a couple of years. Anyone got any recommendations?
