Why do you follow the Premier League instead of the League of Ireland?

Genuine question, especially for the Irish football fans who follow the Premier League..

why do you choose it over your own in the League of Ireland?

I’ve been following LOI for years and I genuinely don’t really understand why it isn’t far more popular. Recently its gaining popularity and I would love to see it take off

With a good domestic league we would see ourselves perform better at international level, have more european games to watch locally, and in general have good entertainment at our doorsteps

The games are entertaining, the standard is quite decent especially since 2023 introduction of minimum wage in the league,

tickets are affordable, and the atmosphere at live games can be brilliant.
You constantly hear people talking about wanting to support local communities and Irish sport, yet when it comes to football, a huge number of people are far more invested in a club in England than one they could actually go and watch every week and might even cross paths with the players
I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with supporting a club in the prem, but it just seems like strange choice to make

Im very interested to know; how there’s so many fans who feel more connected to a club overseas than the one of your hometown or 30-60min train ride away?

Lastly if you watch international football do you root for the English? The common consensus tells me that not only do we not root for English, we in fact root against them, yet I see Liverpool, arsenal, united, Tottenham jerseys everywhere?

Stadium etiquette Bohs vs FCM

First of all it was a great game despite the loss and everyone seemed to enjoy their time, the people were great but something I noticed and thought was very self absorbed and selfish behaviour

The west end in particular was pretty packed and very difficult to find a seat, I came in to the stand around 45mins before kick off and had a real tough time finding a spot in my block, eventually I did, but many people after me could not find a place to sit down, I’ve noticed a handful of people were literally keeping the seat beside them to hold their jacket and food, obviously enough people like this leads to people sitting on steps and standing up in the back which happened..

there was a group of 3 relatively close to me father, son and grandad that had THREE extra SEATS used up between the 3 of them it, at one point one of the fans that was forced to stand at the top of the stairs peeking their head out to see the home end of the stadium was slightly in their way, the father using a seat on his left to hold the jacket and on his right keeping his chipper food had the audacity to tell the lad to go somewhere else because he’s in the way; nobody wanted a scene and he just ended up going elsewhere, but how self entitled are some people at these places, that guy paid the same price as you for a seat which you thought was better used to hold your jacket;

just curious if anyone noticed similar behaviour at LOI or European ties and what is the best way around it

Eviction notice

2 weeks ago, My folks were handed in a notice as landlord is planning on selling the property and weighing the options I can’t believe the situation is only getting worse from last time I looked for a place in 2021

The entire county has 30 properties, mind you more than half are complete utter shitholes, another 5-10 way outside of the price range and here we land on a handful of properties I’m talking 1-3 that are A. Within reasonable distance for commuting to work and B. Are affordable,

Out of those 3 properties all are 2x more than what they are currently paying and are in a far far worse condition. I am honestly calculating and so far I’ve come to conclusion that at their age of almost 60, it’s honestly in their best interest to explore the dole + social housing, I’m talking about two people that have literally been in workforce since they were teens, they are so much better off if that was an option, working 40h both a week and not being able to comfortably housing is craaazy, I mean the last two options are pay 1.4-1.5k a month or house share.. not at that age though, the second best option is moving to another country.

This has me thinking, if you are on minimum wage how stressful is this situation in Ireland, I’m surprised so many people stay in this nation, I wonder how many people would be forced to emigration if they were to lose their rental that they’ve had for 10+ years and is still at a good price, I mean sure if you are in your early 20s new to the workforce , single.. house share is actually a decent option it sucks but it’s doable

That’s kind of my rant, it’s almost funny how shit the quality of life can be in Ireland, a lot of people are one decision away from their landlord to end up in the struggles.. good job Ireland, but hey at least Microsoft and Google are here

Policija kaltina, kad kliudžiau automobilį stovėjimo aikštelėje

Sveiki,
