Bedankt

Nogmaals ontzettend bedankt.

LAN Games

I have a question about games. I have three or four older PCs lying around—some already have Windows XP installed, and I’m setting it up on the others. I want to host a classic LAN party with my buddies, but since we’re all getting on in years, fast-paced action games—like *Unreal Tournament*, *Quake*, or anything like that—aren't really our thing anymore. It would be cool to play something together—either cooperatively or competitively—perhaps a strategy game or a quiz game. We also have a background in *D&D*, so maybe a role-playing game we could play as a group? The trouble is, I don't know much about games in general, and certainly not about what runs on Windows XP. Does anyone have any great ideas for what we could play?

W2k Server

Hi, a friend gave me a few old computers—likely from the Windows XP or Windows 2000 era. I want to experiment with various old server systems that I used to work with back then; this includes a Windows 2000 Server (which I’ve already started setting up), a Novell NetWare 4.11 or 5 instance, and a Linux server appropriate for that time period. While I’m reasonably familiar with modern Linux systems now, I had no exposure to Linux back then because our clients were all running on the two systems mentioned above. What would be a suitable Linux distribution for that era? I plan to set up NDS on the Novell server with ADS integration on the Windows machine; is there a comparable setup available for the old Linux systems? Does anyone have any great ideas for use cases, and where can I get the corresponding software? Thanks in advance for your help.

ARR Stack and Express VPN

ExpressVPN in Proxmox

Hello People I need some help.

I want to use Express VPN in My Home Lab.

My first Idea was to make a VM with Linux like ubuntu or Debian. Then get the Express VPN Linux Client, install it, activate with the activate Key than Install simple socks5 Proxy like Dante, so I can use this with My Other VM or lxc, that I dont need to install the Client on Any Device in my LAN.

That work very well on the first Day. But After Reboot the dante and/or VPN crashed and was in a restart Loop.

So I Decided to Roll out a Fresh ARR Stack with a Big docker compose yaml for vpn, torrent, and the arr Software without Jellyfin, coz that is still Running on a different Maschine. All That in a New Fresh VM.

I don’t want to use gluten or I think that this is not working?!?

But there I could Not connect in Anyway. Not with activation Code and not with Login Credentials and Not With ENV File with Login Data.

I could not Figure out how to get Express VPN Running to provide me VPN for Other Instances, VM, Client, or Other Docker Container.

If Someone Could Help Me out and have some experience or advice That Would be very very nice.

I’m really very confused right now; I’m completely stuck and feel utterly desperate. I’ve even tried using that so-called "stochastic parrot" AI, but all that spits out is total crap—just pre-trained junk with archaic syntax that is absolutely useless for anything.

Thanks for any Help.

ARR Stack Help

Good morning, everyone. I could really use some help. I’ve watched several videos and read through various guides on this topic, but I still have a few questions.

  1. I haven't really looked into the details anymore, but I’m assuming the standard approach involves a complete fresh installation. However, that is not the case for me. I have a separate Jellyfin server that also functions as a media NAS. For historical reasons, this is a Windows machine featuring an SMB share, and Jellyfin runs directly on that machine. For the time being, this setup cannot be changed, as I currently have absolutely no way to write the data stored on the RAID to any other location. Furthermore, I have a separate Proxmox server. Running on it is, for instance, a Docker instance—unfortunately, also managed via Portainer. Is it possible to modify the provided `compose.yaml` file so that, for example, I do not need to deploy a separate Jellyfin instance, and so that the entire ARR stack can communicate properly with my existing installation via SMB?

  2. Should I install the stack within my existing Docker environment, or should I create something entirely new—specifically, either a new VM or a new LXC container? Should I configure this as privileged or unprivileged, and why? Furthermore, what is the deal with Portainer, and why are there repeated warnings against using it for deployment?

  3. And why, for that matter, would you take one massive configuration file and try to install everything all at once, instead of handling each program individually? And which programs do you even want to have? There are so many of them, and I’m really losing track of it all.

  4. And finally—what is the deal with these indexers? Because, once again, none of the instructions actually explain exactly what they are or where to get them. That seems to be the sticking point, as I don't need English-language content, but rather material in a different language.
