I'm going to order from Butler, and I'm trying to decide if I should buy a box of 8 oz bags or the large bulk bag. Does the bulk bag generate a higher percentage of crushed curls during shipping?
I'm currently using paper filters on the bottom of my stock Profitec filter basket, primarily for the possible health benefit. The addition of the filter has dramatically increased the flow of the water through the puck, and necessitated a finer grind. Shots taste good.
If I use a high extraction basket with the bottom filter, will that only change the flavor of the shot and not necessarily the time? In theory, I'm guessing that the paper filter in my Profitec basket is already ensuring a consistent flow. Am I thinking about this correctly? Is buying a HE basket overkill, since I'm already accounting for clogged holes with the paper?
I'm considering upgrading from my Eureka Mignon Oro pro SD due to retention exchange issues. I'm tired of the work required to clean out the jammed up grounds at the top of the chute (already tried removing the declumper), and I also want blind burrs.
I've been looking at the Zerno grinders (Z1&2), and wanted to get longer term user feedback on them. I like the ease of cleaning and what looks like minimal exchanged retention.
We primarily drink medium-dark roast espresso with occasional Americano and milk drinks. Any insight on burr choices? Any help or suggestions, even for alternatives, would be appreciated.
