[Hobby] Writer/Creator Looking for Manga/Comic Artist or Visual Storyteller for Original Superhero Shonen Proof-of-Concept
Hey everyone,
I’m looking to build a small creative team for an original superhero shonen project called Smash Family.
I’m the creator/writer behind the project. I’ve developed the world, core characters, power system, and the first several major story arcs. The foundation is already heavily mapped out, and I’m now looking for the right manga/comic artist or visual storyteller to help bring the official visual version to life.
The project is a family-driven superhero shonen story with cinematic action, emotional stakes, legacy, mystery, and a modern anime/manga feel. The goal is to start small with a proof-of-concept — something like a manga-style page, short webcomic sequence, character cleanup sheet, hero reveal page, or storyboard/panel sequence.
I have rough visual references and pre-vis material to help communicate the direction, but I want the official version to have a real artist’s hand behind it. I’m looking for someone who can bring expression, emotion, panel flow, action clarity, and creative instincts.
PORTFOLIO: This is my first original manga/comic project, so I do not have a published portfolio in this field yet. However, I do have story/world material, character concepts, visual references, and rough pre-vis examples available privately after there is a good fit.
I’m looking for:
- Manga/comic artist
- Sequential storyteller
- Character cleanup artist
- Storyboard/panel layout artist
- Someone comfortable with action, emotion, and expressive poses
This is currently a hobby / passion-project collaboration. I’m looking for someone passionate who wants experience, credit, portfolio work, and the chance to help shape an original project early. If the project gains traction, funding, or revenue in the future, I want the people who helped build it to grow with it, but I don’t want to misrepresent this as a paid position right now.
If interested, please send your portfolio, manga/comic pages, character art, or sequential storytelling samples. I’m keeping deeper story details private until there’s a good fit, but I’m happy to share the tone, references, and proof-of-concept direction privately.
