[Paid]Looking for a Writer/Narrative Designer for a Fantasy Tactical RPG (3 Years in Development)

Hi everyone,

We are a small indie team of 3 developers, and we have been passionately working on a Fantasy Tactical RPG for the past 3 years. We have made significant progress on the technical side: our core gameplay loops, combat mechanics, and systems for controlling a party of 4 heroes are already highly functional and implemented.

However, we know our strengths, and writing is not one of them. That is why we are looking for a dedicated Writer / Narrative Designer to join our team and breathe life into our world.

About the Game:

  • Genre: Fantasy Tactical RPG (Party-based combat).
  • Core Setup: You control a fixed party of 4 heroes (Warrior, Mage, Archer, Assassin) who are tasked with dealing with "Rifts" dangerous portals bringing monsters into the world.
  • Current State: Heavy focus on deep, tactical gameplay which is already built. We have a rough framework/idea of what the overarching theme should be, but it desperately needs refinement, logic, and professional pacing.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Someone who can take our rough concepts and turn them into a compelling, logical narrative.
  • A writer who understands the pacing of RPGs and can write engaging dialogue, lore, and character arcs for our 4 main heroes and NPCs.
  • Since the story is mostly a blank canvas right now, you will have a lot of creative freedom to shape the world, the villains (Rift Keepers), and the motivations of the characters.
  • Someone who enjoys collaborating and bouncing ideas back and forth.

What We Offer:

  • A project that isn't just an "idea" – we have 3 years of actual code, playable mechanics, and assets to show. You won't be joining a project that dies in a week.
  • A friendly, dedicated team that values honest feedback and creative input.

Requirements:

  • Fluent in English or German.
  • Familiarity with Tactical RPGs and fantasy tropes (and knowing how to subvert them).
  • Please have at least a small portfolio or writing sample ready to show us your style.
  • Do NOT use AI in any shape or form to Write your storys.
  • Mandatory Video Call: Please note that we require at least one introductory video interview (with your camera turned on) before we can officially start our collaboration.

If you are interested in joining a stable project and taking full ownership of its narrative, we would love to hear from you!

Please reach out to me via Reddit DM or add me on Discord: Malikir324

Looking forward to hearing from you!

[Hobby] Free marketing gut check for a few indie devs

I’m offering to look at a few indie games for free from a marketing angle.

Could be an idea, a rough concept, a Steam page, a trailer, or just whether the niche makes sense.

No paid thing. I’m not trying to sell anything or join a team.

My background is digital marketing in the streamer and creator education space (founded www.streamscheme.com). That space is getting hit pretty hard by AI right now, so I’ve been looking more seriously at games as a future career path.

The useful bit is that I see a lot of game marketing from the creator side. Because of the work I’ve done, I get pitched by serious indie game marketing teams pretty every day. These are proper campaigns from people who know how to get games in front of YouTubers and streamers at scale.
I’ve been paying attention to how they frame games, what they send over, and what makes a pitch feel worth replying to.

I’ve spent years building a sharp understanding of consumer behavior in gaming. Who something is actually for and hooks that get a player base invested.

I also understand launch strategy at a high level in terms of the steps. From a couple of grand in budget, right down to how to bootstrap with nothing. How to build interest early and finding the right audience. Also, just making the game easy to explain so all future promotions are easier.

So if you want a free outside look at your game or idea, either drop a question here or send me a DM.

If I think I can help, I’ll give honest notes. If I don’t, I’ll just say that.
I can also share who I am and what I’ve worked on. So you know I’m not just some random account fishing for leads.

I am an indie developer. I built an Android app. Code worked. Design worked. Then Google told me I needed 12 testers for 14 days before I could publish. I did not have that.

I tried friends. They forgot after day 2. I tried test for test groups. People disappeared. I failed three times. Wasted over a month.

So I built RealAppTesters.

You add our testers emails to your Google Play Console. We provide 12 testers who use your app every day for 14 days. We track daily activity. If someone drops off, we replace them. After 14 days, you apply for production access.

No app to download. No system to learn. No testing other people's apps.

I have helped over 50 indie developers pass closed testing so far. All customers came from Reddit. No ads. No paid promotion.

If you are building an Android app and stuck on closed testing, this is for you.

[HOBBY] Software Engineering looking for an artist and a second developer for a hobby game

PORTFOLIO: this is my first project and do not have a portfolio of any kind

Hello there,

I am a software engineer based in France, looking to do a bit more work in the gaming field.
I tried to create my own video games on my own before but I basically drowned in tasks and ended up giving up.
I want to try again but this time, I don't want to pressure myself nor pressure the team.
This is a small hobby project, didn't start it yet (I know I'll pursue it on UE5 though), just had the idea and I'd like to surround myself with people that know what they do (or even if you don't, send me a message, we can all grow together).
The game is about an orphan in one of the Tunisian old cities, looking for his lost parents.
No matter what you do in the game, your actions and words have consequences, the medina never forgets.

I did write a bit about the game story but I'd love to hear more about y'alls feedback.
So, for my portfolio, I don't really have one as you can see up there.

So, I don't know how to end this post so I hope a lot of you will comment or text me here!
Thanks!

[Hobby] Help me make my dream basketball game!

Hello, I have a specific idea for a game and I have spent lots of time working out the details of the game but I am not a programmer or an artist and I desperately want to make this game. I need help from anyone who is willing to help work on this game.

Here’s my idea:
A 2D 3v3 online multiplayer basketball game in which you are able to customize your character and upgrade their abilities as you play. I have specifics worked out already for the player builder which will be a big focus of the game. I have positions, heights, body types, wingspan, and several attributes to upgrade with a complete upgrade point system. I have a very specific vision of this game and it’s all mapped out I just need help to make it real.

[Hobby]/[RevShare] Programmer looking for an artist to team up and actually ship something — 2-person team, learn and grow together

Hey everyone 👋

I'm a programmer with Unity experience — I've built a small game before but never took anything to the "published / actually finished" stage. That's exactly what I want to change. I'm looking for one teammate to team up with long-term so we can actually ship projects instead of letting them sit half-done.

What I'm looking for: An artist / illustrator / animator who handles the visual side — 2D art, sprites, character design, animation, whatever direction we end up going. Skill level isn't the main thing for me — what matters more is that you want to grow, stay consistent, and finish things. The vibe I'm after is two people building together, not one person carrying the other.

What I bring:

  • Programming and game logic (Unity, open to learning Godot/others if it fits the project)
  • Commitment to actually showing up consistently (no ghosting)
  • Willingness to start small, finish projects, and level up together

The project: I don't have a fixed idea locked in yet — I'd rather we brainstorm together so we're both genuinely excited about it. My instinct is to start small (a short 2D game we can realistically finish in a few months) so we actually ship something instead of burning out on a dream project. Once we have one finished thing under our belt, we can aim bigger.

Setup:

  • Hobby first, with a fair revshare split if anything ever makes money down the line
  • Discord for communication
  • Casual but consistent — a few hours a week, not a second job

If this sounds like your kind of energy, DM me or drop a comment with a bit about yourself and what you've been working on (no portfolio required — just curious where you're at).

Thanks for reading!

[Hobby] Looking for a Lead Artist + Sound Artist + 3D Artists for SproutHaven 🌱

Hey! I'm a solo college student developer building a cozy multiplayer social game called Sprouthaven, think of Club Penguin for the Discord era. Players hop into a colorful island town, hang out with friends in voice chat, customize their character which is a "Sprout", play mini-games, and collect tiny companion creatures called Sproutlings.

I'm putting this post up to find people for different roles as the project grows. Right now I'm specifically looking for a lead artist to help design rooms/backgrounds/maps, but also have my radar out for a sound designer and a 3D artist for the character and clothing articles. If any of those fit you, read on.

HONEST UP FRONT

This is currently an unpaid passion project. I'm a college student building this in my spare time. I can't pay industry rates or really any rates right now, what I can offer is:

- Real creative ownership of the visual direction
- Portfolio piece in a project with a clear vision and ongoing development
- Full credit in-game and across all marketing
- If the game eventually monetizes, fair revenue share for anyone who contributed meaningfully
- A serious collaborator who's going to actually ship something, not someone who'll ghost in 3 months

If/when the project finds funding, paying collaborators is the first thing I'd want to do. But right now I won't pretend I can.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FOR

🎨 2D/LEAD ARTIST (need now)
Help shape the visual identity from the ground up. Environmental art, character design, props, cosmetics, backgrounds. Looking for a real creative partner, not someone to execute my specs.

🎵 SOUND DESIGNER / COMPOSER
Cozy ambient music, mini-game sound effects, environmental audio. Flag interest now even if not ready to start.

🧩 3D ARTIST
The character a humanoid "Sprout" will eventually be a 3D model rendered on top of 2D backgrounds - like Club Penguin's 3D penguins on flat rooms. Need a rigged base character with skeleton and bone-attached cosmetic meshes.

WHERE I'M AT

I have a rough idea for the world, loose storyboarding done, gameplay loops mapped out, and a working understanding of what the game should feel like. But I wouldn't call it a clear visual vision yet, I genuinely need someone with artistic instincts to help shape that with me.

I have some mockups/references and rough map idea I can share.

WHO I'M LOOKING FOR

Honestly, someone in a similar life stage to me. Another student, another hobbyist, someone who genuinely loves cozy social games and preferably holds a game like club penguin dear to their heart and wants to help build one. Someone who'll push back on ideas, bring their own creative vision, and treat this as a real collaboration rather than a side gig.

Style direction so far (still evolving): cozy, bright, kid-friendly cartoon. References: Club Penguin, Animal Crossing, Stardew Valley.
I will say it is mostly club penguin inspired specifically with its 2000s hand drawn styling.

IF YOU'RE INTERESTED

DM me or leave a comment with:
- Which role
- Portfolio/Any Previous Work
- A bit about yourself and what would make this fun for you
- Discord for contact!

Happy to share the progress and current state of
the project in DM. Looking forward to chatting! 🌱

Editor Photo: https://imgur.com/a/IeCTWtb

Most of my experience has been in Unity/Unreal development specifically plugins and packages, so I have always dabbled in the gamedev space. Happy to show a little bit of my work off privately.

[Hobby] Looking for an artist for a small open-world survival/crafting game project

Hey everyone,

I’m a programmer currently looking for an artist who might be interested in collaborating on a small game project focused on learning, improving skills, and building something meaningful together.

The idea is a cozy-ish open world survival / crafting / farming game with a strong focus on social interaction between NPCs. Not aiming for hyper realism or MMO scale — more about atmosphere, player interaction, simple systems, and creating a world that feels alive.

I want to be very transparent from the start:
this is NOT a “let’s make the next Stardew Valley in 2 months” type of project.

The goal is mainly:

  • building experience
  • creating a solid portfolio project
  • learning teamwork and pipeline
  • slowly building something we can genuinely be proud of

I’m treating this as laying foundations under our feet rather than chasing overnight success (If that comes that is an added bonus, but ).

About me:

  • Programmer with experience in game/system programming
  • Comfortable with gameplay systems and backend logic
  • Currently working on prototypes and core systems

What I’m looking for:

  • 2D or 2.5D (more like ilustrations), potentionaly stylized 3D artist
  • Someone who enjoys cozy/social game vibes
  • Preferably someone interested in long-term collaboration and experimentation
  • Communication matters more than “AAA-level” skills

Thanks for reading this and if you are interested, just hit me up herewith a DM.

[PAID] Looking for Monster Asset Artist for Commercial JRPG (Long-Term Project / Batch-Based Work)

Hey everyone,

My name is Joel, and I’m the founder of Ash Born Interactive, currently developing a commercial JRPG called A Demon Hunter’s Guide to Passing Finals in RPG Maker MZ.

I’m looking for an artist who can create monster assets in a style similar to classic JRPG enemy art — stylized, expressive, clean, and readable in battle. Think along the lines of slime creatures, fantasy monsters, elemental enemies, demons, beasts, etc. The attached images are examples of the general style/vibe I’m aiming for. Examples on my Portfolio

I’m also looking for someone with experience balancing monster/actor/class stats.

Project Details

  • Commercial indie JRPG project
  • Work would be handled in batches over time, not all at once
  • Looking for someone interested in a potentially long-term collaboration
  • Monsters range from simple slimes to elaborate bosses and elemental creatures

What I’m Looking For

  • Ability to match or work within a cohesive JRPG-inspired style
  • Transparent PNG enemy assets preferred
  • Experience with creature/monster design is a huge plus
  • Reliability and communication matter a lot to me

Payment

This is PAID work for a commercial project.
Because of the project size, I’d like to discuss:

  • Per-monster pricing
  • Batch pricing
  • Possible discounts for larger sets
  • Turnaround expectations

About the Project

The game is called A Demon Hunter’s Guide to Passing Finals, a story-driven JRPG inspired by classics and anime-inspired fantasy worlds. A playable demo already exists, and development is actively ongoing.

If interested, please send:

  • Portfolio/examples
  • Rates or rough pricing structure
  • Preferred contact method
  • Whether you’re open to long-term batch work

Thanks for your time — I genuinely appreciate it.

[RevShare] Unreal dev & technical artist looking to form small, high-skill team.

My Background

I’m an Unreal Engine developer specializing in gameplay and technical art, with a well-rounded background across multiple game disciplines. I was recently laid off from my day job (outside of game dev), and I am dedicating the rest of 2026 to full-time game creation and study before applying to AA/AAA studios early next year. I love the collaborative process of working with small teams. I've previously published games on Steam and Nintendo Switch, and have taken projects to PAX East.

The Goal

I want to bring together a small strike team of like-minded, skilled creators to build small, highly polished, reasonably scoped games (targeting a commercial $10–$15 scope). The primary objective is to sharpen our craft, build knockout portfolio pieces, and make some money while getting our names on more published titles. Because I am doing this full-time for the rest of the year while taking Unreal-based classes, I’m ready to hit the ground running. If we vibe well, I'd love to keep the team together for future projects.

>A respectful disclaimer: To match the scope and pace of these projects, I am only looking for devs and artists who are already well-practiced in their disciplines. You do not need to be professional grade, but should be confident in your skills and want to grow.

I am looking for:

  • Programmers: C++ or Blueprints
  • 3D Artists: Specializing in environment, props, or characters.

Interested?

If this fits your interest and skill level, please send me a DM with a link to your portfolio/reel, your timezone, and your general availability. I will set up a discord if/when we are ready to group up. Revenue will be split among contributions made to projects. Let me know if there is anything I haven't addressed above as well.

Answering Questions

I'll update this section with questions I have received from people:

>Q: Are you also up with a smaller milestone before a whole game, something the scope of a game-jam or a Fab pack? A: Yes, absolutely. The first project ideally should be very small and tight in scope so that everyone can get used to working as a team while we stretch our legs and get our work flows setup.

[Paid] Job opportunity for Animator

My name is Jacob, I am a musician and I am currently producing music for a kids educational YouTube channel.

I am looking for an animator to create the visual representation of what is being taught in the song. So far I have created songs covering topics such as telling the time, days of the week, months of the year, planets in the solar system and I aim to do lots more.

The channel aims to provide great quality education to 4 - 8 year olds whilst remaining fun and engaging. Having worked as a music teacher for 7 years and having children of my own, I am confident that the music I am creating will be a success in classrooms globally. I have also written, performed and produced music professionally 16 years (I am 32).

I have shown the songs to my son’s friends and they’re very excited to see them and sing along to them in their classroom! If you’re looking for a reference channel then just search for Hopscotch on YouTube. That channel is a similar vibe for what I’m going for!

If you’re interested please message me and I will send my tracks over and if you’re happy to go ahead we can discuss payment. I’m looking to start a long term partnership in which the animator would take a percentage of profits made. Of course all of this can be discussed in more detail one to one.

I look forward to hearing from you and starting an exciting and mutually beneficial partnership.

[Hobby] Artist/Programmer in Gamemaker/Godot, possibly musician

I am thinking of an atmospheric interpretive RPG called “Conclusion”. It focuses on surreal dream-like worlds formed from emotional and conceptual distortion of reality. The game is minimalist, story-driven, and heavily focused on tone, environmental storytelling, and surrealism

The structure follows interconnected unstable worlds where reality gradually begins to overlap with dream logic. The combat is simple and turn-based, with emphasis on the concept of “interpretation” rather than stat-heavy progression. Visuals and audio are pretty important here, there’s a muted pixelart style like deltarune or OFF and strong focus on atmosphere and sound design. To clarify my inspirations early 2000s digital imagery, liminal environments and amateur niche art you find online I guess

I'm looking for people who are good at/interested in atmospheric game design, environmental storytelling, and cohesive artistic direction. Basically people who know how to write good plots, make good art and make some music. Especially people skilled at Gamemaker/Godot

Small scoped, focused project rather than a large commercial game. Communication is only online through messages and international.

DM me for more details and questions regarding the project. Since I live in a different time zone responses and messages or friend requests may take a longer time for me to notice. This is just a part time gig so there will be no payment. Take your time while making this but don’t abandon the project completely

It is going to be the first time I’m leading a project if this becomes a team so apologies if there are any Lapses in my judgement

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away! I’m sorry if my post is worded a little poorly, I’m not that good at English sometimes

[RevShare] I am making a game and I need help.

ello All, You can call me Wise:

I have a game Idea, mechanics, characters, stories , setting, tone, script, VA's lining up out the door. What I don't have is a physical game. I have a Studio working on music, I have a main menu song, and if my animator gets RApido RApido I'll have a 'teaser'.

I am looking to find someone to work as either a collaborative effort, or at least, someone to help develop it.

It is going to be a tactical RPG with Analog horror elements in it.

My goal is to release a physical Demo in December.

The truth is I need help, I have programmed in many programming languages before, but I'm not a game developer.

I would love to connect with people to help drive my vision forward, get the demo out, and proceed to make a full game.

It will be fun, it will be wild, and i have been praised by both professional VA's, and artists for my premise.

Last bit i will give: Is a short synapsis of the game.

setting is Techno Feudalist Society with a mass Surveillance State involved. Everyone is connected through the social media named "Flock" which is owned by "Babble Inc", who has been gracious enough to provide everyone with a Omniview that keeps them connected to the world wide web for free! It also lets them stream their real life goings on on their version of Youtube Gaze. Everyone's information is stored in the database called the book of life.

The Main character freelances as a necromancer working for Grim Agency, who is ran by none other than the Grim reaper. The grim reaper is out of the job, because currently No one is dying and No one has died for a very long time.

If anyone at all is interested in making this thing become a reality, please Email me at:
KDshawee@gmail.com or reach me on discord at wiseon321. Or here, if you want.

Questions related to plot devices, mechanics, any assets I have, I will keep in private discussions.

Thank you for your time.

I do not have a budget for this, because, I don't know how much this will cost. I do plan on paying people, I just don't have a cost.

Also, I’d like writers, I’d like artists, I’d like modelers, I’d like well, I need more help.

Please.

PORTFOLIO: This is my first project and I have never produced anything in this field.

[Hobby] [Unreal Engine] Looking for 2-3 partners for a short, atmosphere-heavy indie horror game ("Overtime")

I’m a developer who is slowly learning Unreal Engine and game development. I am working on a single-player horror game titled "Overtime" built using the Bound Horror Framework.

Concept of the Game: "Left Behind"

You are part of a maintenance crew dismantling an old, decommissioned utility line. Due to a communication error or a radio glitch, your crew packs up and locks the surface hatch, not realizing you were still deep down in the pipes fixing a valve. To get out, you have to find an alternative emergency exit route, forcing you into a terrifying, un-clocked "overtime" shift just to survive.

Because the character is completely isolated and dealing with a broken radio, the game features no voice acting—relying entirely on dead silence, echoes, and environmental storytelling.

Team Roles Needed:

- 3D Environment/Prop Artist: To help design or curate modular tunnel wall kits (concrete/brick) and industrial/utility props (pipes, valves, broken machinery).

- Sound Designer: To focus on heavy tunnel echoes, dripping water, metallic clangs, and terrifying spatial audio cues.

- Game & UI Designer: To help map out the pacing of the scares, balance flashlight mechanics, and set up the Main Menu/HUD layouts.

My Role: I will act as the Lead Technical Developer, handling the framework implementation, blueprint trigger box logic, and core gameplay programming.

Project Scope: This is a hobby/portfolio-building project aiming for a short, highly polished 10-to-15 minute gameplay loop. Beginners and fellow learners are incredibly welcome—let's learn, build, and finish a small game together!

If you're interested, drop a comment or Discord handle and any examples of your work (preferred not required)!

[RevShare] 3D Artists & Audio Composers wanted for Stylized Horse RPG (Godot 4)

We're a team of three building a stylized, story-driven horse RPG; think Star Stable: Season Riders meets Palia, with some hints of Alicia Online in regards to racing.

It's a game we genuinely want to play ourselves, and we're looking for a few more people who feel the same way.

The game

Progression is built around quests: story, general, and misc - alongside reputation with factions. The art direction is PBR stylized with semi-low/mid-low-poly models. We're building on Godot 4 with Vulkan Forward+, and almost everything is written from scratch with one exception: the Terrain3D addon. That means the codebase is documented, modular, and extensible, no chasing down fixes for 3rd-party code.

Engine Godot 4.6.2 · Vulkan Forward+
Model format glTF / glB
Audio format WAV
Version control Git (Forgejo)

Who we're looking for

We're not after a large team, instead we'd rather have a small group of dedicated, skilled people who care about the project. The open roles are:

  • 3D Artist: Modelling, texturing, and optionally sculpting characters and horses. glTF/glB format.
  • Animator: Rigging and animating humanoids and quadrupeds, working closely with the 3D artist.
  • Audio Composer: Music and sound effects. WAV format only because of engine flexibility of said format.
  • Level Designer: Building the world with in-editor tooling, following set descriptions and concepts.

Revenue & ownership

This is a revenue share/RevShare project; unpaid until the game generates income, at which point all contributors earn a split. Because we keep the team small and intentional, each person's share is meaningful, not diluted.

If you prove to be highly skilled and genuinely invested in the project, your role can grow to Lead of your current role, which carries more ownership and a larger share of any future revenue.

About me

I'm Tim, 24, from Sweden.

I have roughly 12 years of programming experience across Rust, C, C# and Java, and I've been in game development since around 2015 across several engines.

I also studied game development at Futuregames (2021–2022).

My background is primarily systems programming: networking, performance, and engine internals. Rust handles our system-critical code; GDScript handles gameplay.

[PAID] Looking for Game Copywriter for Steam Page / Publisher Pitch (Industrial Survival Horror)

Hi everyone,

I am a solo developer and i was lucky enough to get a Gamescom slot from the university. Now i'm preparing for the Gamescom Business Area in 9 weeks. I will be pitching my upcoming project to publishers alongside a scripted Vertical Slice.

For this, I need a professional, human-written Steam Store Page Description (Short+Long Description) that doubles as an engaging pitch text for the industry professionals.

IMPORTANT: I am looking for a real writer who understands systemic horror. So please no generic AI-generated horror clichés like: ("descend into madness", "ancient curse", "unspeakable evil").

Project Info & Vibe

Genre: First-person survival horror. No weapons. No combat. You hide, you run, you operate the facility to survive.

The Premise: Set during an *ongoing, live catastrophe* in a massive underground corporate research facility. The facility is NOT a dark, abandoned ruin. Its fully operational at the time of the events.

Tone: Cold. Oppressive. Industrial. Brutal realism. Powerlessnes.

Core References:

Amnesia: The Dark Descent: For the absolute powerlessness and the hide-and-run gameplay loop.

Cyberpunk 2077 (Phantom Liberty "Somewhat Damaged" mission // Cynosure Bunker): This is the exact Vibe-DNA, minus the futuristic Sci-Fi aspect. Cold, industrial, server racks, hydraulics, research, deep underground etc. Engineered horror, no jump-scares or paranormal elements.

Half-Life 1 (Black Mesa): For the monolithic scale of the facility itself (internal trains, massive distributor halls).

---

What I will provide:

No gameplay footage yet, but I will deliver a detailed thematic brief (core pillars, tone, references), the full narrative script of the 3-5 minute Vertical Slice, and atmosphere-focused interior screenshots from the current version of tech demo.

Deliverables Needed:

  1. 1x Steam Short Description: Around 300 characters, punchy and precise.
  2. 1x Steam Long Description: Main body, core features, setting the atmosphere without spoiling specifics.

Budget:

$100 Payment via PayPal.

---

How to Apply:

  1. You MUST comment on this post before sending a DM. (Direct DMs without a comment will be deleted).
  2. Include a link to your portfolio, specifically pointing to Steam pages or pitching materials you have written before.
  3. To prove you actually read this brief and aren't a bot, pack the word "Cynosure" in your comment or DM :)
