I finally rebuilt my Steam page + trailer for my solo indie game — Stickville

I've been working on Stickville, a gritty 2.5D life-sim brawler where you start broke in the slums and slowly claw your way up through fighting, gambling, jobs, hustles, upgrades, choices, and a weird little city that gets stranger at night.

I just finished a pretty major overhaul of the Steam store page and trailer, and I'm honestly really happy with where it landed.

The game is a weird mix of things I personally love:
🥊 real-time brawler combat
🎰 casino games and gambling
🏙️ life-sim / progression
⚔️ martial arts and weapons
⚖️ choices and karma
🛸 and... whatever the hell happens at midnight

I'm also going to be completely transparent about the AI side of it.

Yes, AI was used heavily during development. I use it for things like coding assistance, ideas, iteration, and some of the game's visual/content pipeline.

And honestly? I'm proud of that.

I'm a solo developer. There is absolutely no way I could have built all of this from scratch completely on my own in the same timeframe without AI. It gave me the ability to actually make the game I had in my head instead of having to abandon half the ideas because I lacked the time or skills to do every single part manually.

That doesn't mean everyone has to like AI-generated work. I completely understand why some people hate it, and that's fair.

But I also genuinely believe Stickville is fun, and that's the part I care about most. I made it because I enjoy playing it, and I honestly think there's a group of people out there who would enjoy it too.

The game is planned for October 27, 2026.

Steam page

I'm not expecting everyone to like it — I'd actually rather hear what people don't like about it than get fake compliments.

Thanks for taking a look.

I think I made a very poor use of development time.

The demo is only the first 60 minutes, and it's just the Slums district, but I somehow decided that an old man in the park needed to play actual chess instead of a scripted minigame. He uses a real chess engine with three difficulty levels, and if you beat each one once, you get a reward.

The rest of the demo is basically you trying to survive in a rough neighborhood where people keep normal schedules, shops actually close, fights have consequences, and eventually you catch the bus out of the district. That's the stopping point.

If anyone wants to see whether this was a terrible design decision, the demo is here:

Disclosure for the subreddit rules: I used GenAI as a programming assistant during development and for some promotional materials, but the game itself does not require AI to function.

What's the weirdest completely optional thing you've seen a developer spend an unreasonable amount of time building?

I'm building a modern spiritual successor to Stick RPG — and the free demo is finally playable.

Hey everyone!

For the past several months I've been working on \*\*Stickville\*\*, a modern spiritual successor inspired by the classic \*\*Stick RPG\*\* games.

The goal isn't to copy them, but to capture the same feeling while expanding it into a much deeper experience.

You start with almost nothing in the Slums and decide how to build your life. Work legitimate jobs, gamble, make money, explore hidden areas, meet unique NPCs, uncover easter eggs, or eventually climb your way through Midtown and Downtown.

Current features include:

\* Open-world 2.5D city
\* Jobs & progression
\* Apartments
\* Gambling & casinos
\* Crime & gangs
\* NPC schedules
\* Day/night cycle
\* Hidden secrets & easter eggs
\* Multiple districts with unique identities

I'm developing this as a solo project (with AI helping me write code), and it's slowly becoming the game I always wished existed after playing Stick RPG years ago.

The \*\*free demo\*\* is now available on \[itch.io\](http://itch.io), and I'd genuinely love your feedback—good or bad. I'd much rather hear what needs improving now than after release.

🎮 Demo:

If you enjoy what you see and want to follow the project, I'd really appreciate a Steam wishlist - otherwise thank you for trying it, its appreciated.

⭐ Steam:

Thanks for taking the time to check it out—I really appreciate every bit of feedback.
