Simple Sauerkraut with Kasseler and pineapple
Thought I’d just post the daily Sauerkraut today.

Thought I’d just post the daily Sauerkraut today.
Good evening Ladies,
since I got so much help on my first post I wanted to give an update, since the journey to a new bike seems to be just beginning.
At the end of last post 4 bikes were in the game:
Specialized Diverge
Liv Devote
Cannondale Topstone
Canyon Grizl [edit, wrong model]
The Liv Devote my girlfriend didn’t really like that much, the powertrain combos weren’t what she is looking for and the prices weren’t great, compared to the other three.
For the Canondale we haven’t found a shop to have a look at yet, the Specialized isn’t available yet in the right size.
The Canyon was on sale, about 25 % off, with front suspension, good wheels and SRAM Force group set for around 4500 €. The geometry was pretty much perfect (as is the Canondales), the Canyon HQ isn’t too far away to pick it up and have a test ride first.
We wanted to go for it. Well, Canyon doesn’t offer the discount for the leasing program through which she wants to take the bike (governmental programme that allows to pay for the bike with your income before taxes etc, cutting another substantial part of the price).
There were a few calls and some discussion, but Canyon says it’s not possible (or rather the contract between canyon and the facilitator of this program).
That put quite a dent into the enthusiasm of buying a new bike.
The good part: I finally got the go to improve the old bike a bit. First we changed the handle bar to one of the appropriate size, next comes the saddle, it’s already ordered (the current one was already moved to the position suggested by the bike fitter).
The first ride with the new saddle position and handlebar went quite well, no pain and a much better sitting position.
Extra photo: beautiful sunrise in the morning on the way to work.
Thanks again!
Cheers
Hey ladies,
I’m in need of your help.
I’m a guy looking for a new gravel bike for my girlfriend. She’s riding a Focus Atlas 6.8 so far and quite happy with it. It’s a bit heavy and due to weird hub choices rather resistant to upgrades.
Yesterday we were at a bike fitting. Due to her wish for a lighter bike, the bike fitter put her on a Specialized Roubaix S-Works size 49.
The bike fitting was good, only smaller adjustments to the original geometry of the Roubaix were necessary and especially the shorter reach compared to her Atlas made for a much more comfortable position.
Now the challenges start though. The Roubaix is not interesting to her, she has problems with her back and the doctors recommendations were to use a suspension seatpost to avoid shocks to the back.
Beside that, we don’t go very fast, but rather on longer tours, 50 - 80 miles (80 - 130 km) usually.
Our aim for the next years is to do more bikepacking, not more fast road cycling. (Bike packing with a rear rack, not saddle packs.) Last but not least, the Roubaix S-Works isn’t in the budget, even though there is a really nice discount.
We’ve been through the usual suspects, Specialized, Canyon, Cube, Giant, Focus, comparing the frames on bikeinsights.
Most of the gravel bikes are rather long compared to the Roubaix, though, creating problems with reach again.
Now I’m in need of your input:
Do you have similar experiences and found solutions?
Do you know any bikes with geometries (shorter reach for a more upright position without overextension) that will just fit?
Did you go a size smaller and just extended the seat tube further?
Thanks for your support
Cheers
ps:
The budget is about 5k.
Main reason for the decision to get a new bike is a programme her employer joined, which allows to pay for the bike with her income before taxes, essentially reducing the price by about 40 %. It’s supposed to increase bike commuting and general health.
She is looking for a carbon fibre frame.
The current bike weighs in at about 25 pounds, she is looking for something at about 20 pounds (to have a lighter bike than mine).
Hey people,
Today the maintenance reminder popped up on my new GSD P10 Gen 3 after just 800 km (500 miles).
Is that normal?
I have the bike for just 2 months.
Cheers
