8-Day Northern California Road Trip Itinerary Feedback (SF, Tahoe, Yosemite, Big Sur)
Planning an 8-day Northern California road trip in June and wanted quick feedback on the itinerary/pacing.
Route:
SF → Napa (scenic drive only) → Lake Tahoe → Yosemite → Monterey/Carmel → Big Sur → SF
Main stops:
- Golden Gate Bridge
- Emerald Bay
- Sand Harbor
- Tunnel View
- Glacier Point
- Carmel-by-the-Sea
- Bixby Bridge
- McWay Falls
- Battery Spencer
We’re mainly into scenic drives, viewpoints, photography, and nature - not wineries/nightlife. Napa is mainly just for the scenic CA-29 drive and breakfast stop before heading to Tahoe.
Main question:
Does this route/pacing feel realistic, or am I missing any must-see spots or hidden gems along the way?
Also, is Santa Cruz worth adding on the Big Sur → SF day, or should we spend more time in Big Sur instead?
