Hi everyone!

Just wanted to share my rescue Axolotl i got yesterday. (the pink lucy)

I have no other background on her except she was very very skinny and mistreated.

The rescue that had her has been rehabbing her for the past month, but had to take in 27 injured juveniles so they lowered her adoption fee for me and let me take her, since she’s 100% healthy except for her being so underweight.

My other axolotl was also adopted from the same rescue! She was also very very underweight, and looks so good compared to our new girl!

QUESTION:

1. my other axolotl has long, luscious gills. Hers are very short. Is this genetics, or do you think with some TLC they’ll get better?

I live in Arizona but keep my house at 74° year round. I’ve had my axolotl since June 2026 and i’ve already gone through 2 fans because the motors keep burning out.

I just need to bite the bullet and buy a chiller

My budget is tight right now since we have several things coming up that we need to plan for, but obviously I need to buy a chiller

Recommendations on the best budget friendly option? Preferably something i could get on Amazon lol. Thank you!

I got this morning glory plant from marketplace about 1.5 weeks ago. Has been fine until today I noticed the leaf is all yellow and this white stuff is spreading from stem to leaves.

It’s hard and doesn’t come off when I rub my finger on it.

I can take my nail and scratch it and it’s moist and flattens.

It showed up on the plant and the cutting (In a separate jar) at the same time.

I have no other plants on my house?😭

I upgraded Akula’s hide, which use to be just the plain PVC pipe.

Got some river rock and super glue gel, i think it’s coming along nicely! (the small rocks are securely glued down)

I made a small cave too (3rd pic) for his shrimp to hide in.

This is Akula, my first Axolotl. Does anyone else’s like to hang out up high sometimes on the plants? Lol

(btw, he’s 6” long so big enough for fine sand. I got him from a rescue who had been rehabbing him for a few months. He was severely neglected as a baby so he’s very undersized for his age. He’s doing great now.)

Hi! i’m new to axolotls, i got this guy from a rescue with an established tank. they said he came to them in very poor condition and they did tell me he would always be undersized.

I’m new to axolotls but have been doing my research for a few months before getting him.

Questions:

1. How old do you think he is? you can see his testicles a bit, they’re very tiny though and hardly noticeable unless he’s swimming upwards.
2. Is he still looking too skinny? He’s about 6” long.
3. How big do you think he’ll get?
4. Does anyone know why his top 2 gills are always candy caned?
   Water is kept at 65°F and parameters were tested with the API water testing kit and everything looks good according to the rescue.
