To MBA or not to MBA

Hi there,
I work in biotech on the technology side. I build shit that helps patients and sites. I have a BS in public health.

I’m currently an executive director of product at a small solution provider company.

I make about $200k.

I want to make about $300k+

I feel like in order to continue growing into higher paying roles, my education is going to be a thing.

I’ve been looking at online MBAs; Boston University, George Mason University or Eastern University. I know they all have pros and cons, but I want an affordable program that is more or less self paced. I don’t have time or energy for a lot of group projects, so I feel like Eastern or even WGU are my best bets.

Question to the community. Is an MBA really going to help me get to the salary band I want? I’m making great money now, but I feel like private equity companies start looking at credentials when they consider promotions. And I want to set myself up for success.

Concerned about my husband

I’ve been with my husband for almost 13 years, and I’m starting to get concerned about where he’s going with his life. He smokes weed all the time, he is always playing Pokemon go on his phone and listening to people talk about MTG on YouTube channels. He has his own dog walking business but his clients have declined over time. He had a really traumatic event happen about 3 years ago, where he was chased and tased by police for not doing anything, so he’s still battling that court case. But recently, every now and then he just thinks the world is against him and he lashes out. When I say lash out, I mean he’ll just get into these moods where he just disengages from the world. Related, not related. Recently, someone in the neighborhood approached him and said he called this person a racial slur, and he was so aggressive. My husband was walking our dog and this guy followed him home and was so fired up about it. My husband was calm, non confrontational and went inside while this guy repeated himself trying to provoke my husband. He kept telling me I need to put my husband on a leash, and said he was going to knock my husband out (I was getting the mail). I just feel like all of these things are hard to process. He refuses to go to therapy, and when he has in the past I feel like he’s not honest. He doesn’t have a lot of friends and his family is delusional and selfish. He didn’t go to college and has his own business/ isn’t career motivated that makes him the black sheep in his family. His mom thinks he can do no wrong, but also doesn’t really support him and pretty much left him to raise himself as a kid. I’m close enough to his mom, aunts, cousins and grandma, but I don’t even know where to start. I’m scared he’s literally on a boiling plate and he’s going to burst soon. I’m his only support system, and some days I hold him accountable and other days I just want him to feel unconditionally loved. I don’t feel like I have anyone I can talk to who will actually understand.

I don’t want to hear anything about get divorced, blah blah, he’s a piece of shit (he’s not, if you think that from a 500 word Reddit post, you’re probably the piece of shit). I just don’t know what to do or how to support him.

TLDR; my husband and I don’t have strong support systems and he seems directionless and depressed. I don’t know how to help him or where to guide him.
